Future little sister

Hi Berries! It’s been a while since I posted. We had a little girl who is now a sweet, sassy, beautiful toddler who loves dresses and dancing. We are thinking about trying to start trying for little brother or sister in December. I’ve been thinking a lot about names lately and was wondering what your thoughts were on the following.

My daughter’s name is Em.ma. We absolutely love her first and middle name! We already decided years ago on a boy name which starts with C. Our last name also starts with C and rhymes with “harder”.

The two sister names at the top of our list are:
Cla.ra
Ju.lia

I really love both names equally, and especially since they are easy to pronounce in both of our languages, English and Spanish. I’m super torn. At first I was certain we’d use Cla.ra, but especially after watching and hearing the name Giu.lia throughout the movie “Luca”, (which we absolutely adore and you should 100% watch it if you haven’t already), I fell more in love with it (we’d spell it Ju.lia though) and now both names are now tied. If we had twin girls, we’d use both! What are your thoughts on the names and how they pair with Em.ma? And if we have a boy eventually (we will probably try to have a third down the road) with a C name, and our other daughter’s name is Cla.ra, would that kind of seem like a C theme that leaves out Big Sister’s? And lastly, does the name Cla.ra mesh well with our last name? For MNs, we like Anna.lise, Elea.nor, El.odie, Mad.eline, Ro.se, and more.

I apologize for getting carried away - I just love talking about names and these two have been on my mind constantly! Thanks for your input

With Em.ma I think Clar.a is better personally, it fits so perfectly.
I think Clar.a Anna.lise would be absolutely stunning

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite option is Clar.a [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] or Clar.a [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]. I don’t mind Jul.ia but Clar.a feels more unexpected and has a vintage element to it that I love. Both work well with Em.ma though so you can’t really go wrong.

In regards to using a C name down the track if you use Clar.a for a second daughter, I don’t think it really matters for your eldest. It would bother me but I’m finicky about repeated initials with siblings, especially if it’s two and one. But if it doesn’t bother you then I say go for it!

Thanks for your feedback! I do love [name_f]Annalise[/name_f] as a middle name

[name_m]Ah[/name_m], I’m pretty finicky about that stuff too, so it’s tricky! I originally wanted all names to be 2 syllable only, but with how short [name_f]Julia[/name_f] is that it almost passes as a 2 syllable-sounding name, I’ve relaxed my strict requirements a little. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I think both names pair well with Em.ma. I could see Em.ma’s name feeling a little left out if the other two are both C names – but only assuming you intend to stop at three. (A set 4+ children where 2 have the same initial is not a big deal, imo.)

It seems like you are more in love with Ju.lia at the moment, so that gets my vote.
Ju.lia Ro.se and Ju.lia Mad.eline would both be lovely!

I think Cl@ra goes better with Emm@. They’re both fairly common and two syllables. Juli@ sounds pretty 90s and early 2000s to me. I like [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f].

Cla.ra feels perfect!!

I love both [name_f]Julia[/name_f] and Clara,but I think [name_f]Clara[/name_f] goes better with [name_f]Emma[/name_f]

[name_f]Clara[/name_f] works better with all the three-syllable middle names in my opinion. [name_f]Julia[/name_f] is a lovely name as well but would work better with a one- or two- syllable middle name.
Also, I don’t think the C theme is leaving out the sister. [name_f]My[/name_f] last name starts with A, the same as my first name, and my sister’s first name starts with E. I don’t think either of us ever thinks about the fact that my initials are the same except one time in like Year 2 when we were told to put our initials on the back of our work. Especially if neither you or your partner’s name begins with C, they probably won’t even notice. If you had a third kid with a C name, then she might feel a bit left out, but you could maybe have the third kid’s middle name start with E, so it’s E, C and CE. [name_u]Or[/name_u] use an E name for the second one’s middle name and a name beginning with the same letter as her middle name for the third’s middle name, so that there are two names beginning with C, two beginning with E and two beginning with whatever her middle name begins with. That way it would be more like something connecting them all together rather than leaving her out.

I think both names are stunning! [name_f]Clara[/name_f] feels a little more timeless and currently on trend. [name_f]Julia[/name_f] feels a little more unexpected (like 80’s revival) which I love too!

Your daughters name goes so well with both so it’s hard to pick. I am slightly more intrigued by [name_f]Julia[/name_f] as I hear it less. Using [name_f]Julia[/name_f] also avoids the repetition of your boy name that you might get to use

Ju.lia Made.line gets my vote

I prefer [name_f]Julia[/name_f], It’s more unexpected and has a beautiful feel to it. Maybe you could go with [name_f]Julia[/name_f] [name_f]Clara[/name_f]? I’ve met one with this exact name before and I thought it was really pretty

I love [name_f]Julia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]! I like [name_f]Julia[/name_f] because it isn’t too matchy since it has 3 syllables (Jul-lee-ah). I think it would be too similar with both two syllable names ending in -a.

Ditto I agree name talk is the best!

I absolutely love Cla.ra such a gorgeous name really elegant with a gorgeous Christmassy vibe I just think nutcracker, snowy days and that holiday festive spirit. I think she works wonderfully with Em.ma. But if you are determined to use a c name for a boy then potentially could lead to some issues with Em.ma feeling left out without a c name. I agree with @elanorelle it’s okay if there’s multiple siblings for a couple to share initials but it’s odd in a three sibling situation. So yes Cla.ra is lush but not the one.

Moving onto Ju.lia no wonder your loving this name currently she’s such a classic that to me has a naturally happy disposition. I think Ju.lia feels like summer (opposite vibe to Cla.ar) I picture walks on the beach, sea breeze, ice cream & sunny days. I think she shares the same happy sound of Em.ma making them perfect sister names! I think Ju.lia R0s€ is very pretty :rose:

Anyways good luck with your TTC journey in [name_u]December[/name_u]

[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] would be beautiful. I do really love [name_f]Julia[/name_f] as well. Both names work great with [name_f]Emma[/name_f]. Really I’d just choose whatever you feel in your heart is her name, maybe it will be more apparent when she’s here. It also might help to say the names out loud a bunch to feel which you like best.

I dont think the C names would be a problem. I like both for you, but I like Juli@ goes better with 3mma!

I admit to loving Cl@ra with Emm@, and Cl@ra with your surname is so cute! I do love Jul!a but I don’t think she works quite as beautifully with Emm@, personally, and I’m just smitten with Cl@ra “Harder”! I’m a huge [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] fan, so I think I’d go with Cl@ra Ann@lise myself, but I think Cl@ra El0die is super sweet too.
