[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone! I’m planning a novel and can’t figure out what to name my main character. The setting is in the future, so I’m looking for names that would fit the time period, but nothing too out there. The main character is a fifteen-year-old girl, turning sixteen in a few months. She would be a little shorter than average, with a slight build. She has long, straight dark brown hair. She has tan skin and dark green eyes with flecks of gold (which would be normal in the futuristic society) which are framed with long dark lashes. She is extremely pretty. Her overall personality would be nice, though she is sometimes mean or rude. She is very independent and strong. She can be impatient, but is a very loyal and good person.
So far I’ve come up with these names, but none of them sound exactly right:

My first idea was [name_u]Tyler[/name_u]. No, not a typo of [name_u]Taylor[/name_u], but actually I love [name_u]Tyler[/name_u] on a girl.
I do like [name_f]Carys[/name_f] as mentioned previously.

I really like [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] and [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]. On that note, you could go for nature-but-not names like [name_f]Raine[/name_f], [name_m]Ashe[/name_m], Rya, and [name_u]Havana[/name_u] are good for female leads. If you were really going for it you could try [name_m]Maddox[/name_m].
[name_m]How[/name_m] far in the future are you planning to go? I feel that -a names are so popular at the moment that in 50 years time they will all seem really old-fashioned, but then in a hundred years they will probably be back again. I really like [name_f]Kerris[/name_f] as a futuristic version of [name_f]Cerys[/name_f] but I also worry it might be too [name_f]Katniss[/name_f]-y. [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]? [name_f]Cerise[/name_f]? [name_u]Ennis[/name_u]? You could always go for a timeless classic like [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] or [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and give her a weird nickname like [name_f]Rin[/name_f] or Zaz.
