Gardner

So I saw the movie The Space Between Us last night (terribly cheesy by the way!) and the main character is a young man named [name_u]Gardner[/name_u] - who coincidentally tends to a garden in the movie. Never heard this as a first name before but I quite like it! It suited the actor too.

What do you think of [name_u]Gardner[/name_u]?~

I really like [name_u]Gardner[/name_u]. I think it would make a cool middle name, or a first name for someone who was a little bolder. I wouldn’t use it, because I have to many names I love more, but I do think it would suit my style!

I think it’s ok, though a little clunky. Some people might pronounce it with three syllables - gar-de-ner.

I agree, I thought it just sounded like a “cool name”. Not sure if I’d be cool enough to use it. Fits in with the [name_m]Archer[/name_m], [name_m]Fletcher[/name_m], [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m], etc. group of names as well.

I just saw on here that they also have [name_u]Gardener[/name_u] listed. I personally pronounce both the same.

It is a little clunky; I think you’d have to have a nicely flowing middle name (or first) and surname to make it work!

Funny! I say gard-ner which is clunkier to me than [name_u]Gardener[/name_u]. Agreed it would depend on the middle.

I really like [name_u]Gardner[/name_u]! It’s uncommon without being too out there.

It made me think of [name_m]Martin[/name_m] [name_u]Gardner[/name_u] the mathematician, a nice namesake I suppose.

I knew a girl named [name_u]Gardner[/name_u] once (but I’m not sure if it was spelled this way or [name_u]Gardener[/name_u]- I would pronounce them basically the same). It was a family name and worked really well on her!

[name_f]Lovely[/name_f]!!!
