Gareth something-something

If our [name_u]August[/name_u] baby is a boy, we both really love [name_m]Gareth[/name_m].

We plan on using two middle names, like we did for our daughter, and would like to honour both of our fathers.

My husband’s late father was named [name_m]Robert[/name_m]. My dad is [name_m]Keith[/name_m] (middle name [name_u]James[/name_u]). I know [name_m]Keith[/name_m] isn’t super stylish, but I really love it, and much prefer it to the somewhat generic middle name [name_u]James[/name_u] ([name_u]James[/name_u] is a lovely name! I just think it feels more like filler than an honour name when it’s in the middle spot…).

HOWEVER, I’m not sure about the repeating -th sounds in [name_m]Gareth[/name_m] and [name_m]Keith[/name_m]. I’d separate them with [name_m]Robert[/name_m], resulting in [name_m]Gareth[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m] [name_m]Keith[/name_m], but I’m still not sure if it flows/sounds repetitive/is awful???

What do you think?

[name_m]Gareth[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m] [name_m]Keith[/name_m]
OR
[name_m]Gareth[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Robert[/name_m]

OR, should we choose a whole other first name?? Please help! I’m so conflicted over this.

PS. My husband thinks the repeating -th sound is a non-issue…

I am always team honor over flow. [name_m]Gareth[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m] [name_m]Keith[/name_m] is a little -th and t heavy but not terrible.
Does [name_m]Robert[/name_m] have a middle name you could use?

Maybe [name_m]Gareth[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_m]Keith[/name_m] so there is less t’s in there?

@princessshannon - thanks so much for your feedback. [name_m]Robert[/name_m]'s middle name was [name_m]Edward[/name_m], but my husband is adamant that we use [name_m]Robert[/name_m] (and not [name_m]Edward[/name_m]). I personally love the idea of using [name_u]Robin[/name_u], but I’m nearly certain that my husband will not be persuaded.

Could another compromise be [name_m]Gareth[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] so both middle names are used? Personally I find that very handsome, but I understand then the beloved [name_m]Keith[/name_m] isn’t used, but still honored, same with [name_m]Robert[/name_m].

The more I think about it, the more I think [name_m]Gareth[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m] [name_m]Keith[/name_m], though a little T heavy seems perfect for you just because of the meaning behind it though. Good [name_m]Luck[/name_m]!

I think flow is secondary to using honor names, and you will rarely be saying aloud both middles, so I think [name_m]Gareth[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m] [name_m]Keith[/name_m] is lovely!

[name_m]Gareth[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m] [name_m]Keith[/name_m]
[name_m]Gareth[/name_m] is excellent it feels very like he could be any one
I actually like [name_m]Keith[/name_m] , the more recent netflix series voltron has a main character [name_m]Keith[/name_m]
I think it will be a fine middle especially with [name_m]Robert[/name_m] in there which is classic
G R K will be his first few initials which I would advise against it you have a surname beginning in K… Or y?
[name_m]Just[/name_m] because you don’t want his initials to evoke the word jerk which is literally a non issue I imagine
I wouldn’t worry about the double th, not ideal…
but less ideal would be compromising what names you want for the sake of it
You could do surnames or something in the middle perhaps if it does bother you and james feels wrong
Or nns like [name_m]Gareth[/name_m] [name_m]Rob[/name_m] Key or something? But I say go with your original pick and just stick with it… The middles won’t come up almost all of the time… And I think you’ll regret compromising for flow… Like if you asked should go name your son [name_m]Gareth[/name_m] and your sn is [name_m]Keith[/name_m] I might suggest reconsidering but I think you’re ok. Congrats on baby!

I vote for [name_m]Gareth[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m] [name_m]Keith[/name_m]!

[name_m]Gareth[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Robert[/name_m]

[name_m]Gareth[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m] [name_m]Keith[/name_m] is so handsome!

Wow, thanks for the feedback everyone. I really appreciate it. I want my children’s names to be beautiful, but I also really want to honour loved ones, and I guess I might be willing to sacrifice having the perfect flow in order to accomplish that.

And anyway, I don’t even know if we’re having a boy, so all of this could be for naught.

We’d love some more feedback, if anyone else would like to weigh in.

[name_m]Just[/name_m] giving this a little bump. Would love to have some more opinions.

I really like the combo of [name_m]Gareth[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m] [name_m]Keith[/name_m], and think it is the best of your options. It’s strong and distinctive but also has known and traditional names - not an easy thing to pull off! And I love [name_m]Gareth[/name_m] as a first name - great to see it on someone’s list!

[name_m]Gareth[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m] [name_m]Keith[/name_m] gets my vote

[name_m]Gareth[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m] [name_m]Keith[/name_m] might seem t/th heavy at first, but I actually think it’s nicely balanced. I seem to be in the minority where flow means more to me than honor names, but I think this is a nice compromise between both!

Second vote would be for [name_m]Gareth[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u], if you could get your husband on board with using his father’s middle.

I think that flow is a non issue with [name_m]Gareth[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m] [name_m]Keith[/name_m]. I think it is a lovely name and full of wonderful meaning for your family.

However, if you want options, you could consider [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] instead of [name_u]James[/name_u] to honor, making it less of a filler name.
