My love has been absolutely against talking future baby names with me since our daughter was born, which is fine by me, but yesterday while we were hanging out in the garden and I was looking through my baby name books he all of the sudden said: “You should put [name]Gareth[/name] on your list.”
[name]Gareth[/name]? I have never considered this name before. He is one of my favourite knights (of that round table, yes) and I love [name]Tennyson[/name]'s Idylls of the [name]King[/name], but for some reason I have always associated the name with [name]Gareth[/name] Southgate (football player for various half decent English football clubs). Anyway, I’m kind of starting to like it… it’s knightly, handsome and usable. So what do you lovelies think? [name]Rosalind[/name] and [name]Gareth[/name]? Some awesome combos spring to mind?
[name]Rosalind[/name] and [name]Gareth[/name] have the same feel, though I prefer [name]Jared[/name] to [name]Gareth[/name]. But if your SO likes it and you also do, why not? Some suggestions for middle name:

I think it’s great that your other half chose that name [name]Ottilie[/name]. I know a lot of people named [name]Gareth[/name], even one of my best friends is named it! [name]Gareth[/name] is gorgeous! I always loved the name since I read the children’s version of the [name]King[/name] [name]Arthur[/name] legends when I was young. To me it sounds like a dashing, handsome, chivalrous knight, of course. It goes wonderfully with [name]Rosalind[/name]. I love your taste in names, [name]Ottilie[/name]!
I think you really need to put [name]Gareth[/name] on your list just because he mentioned it but I do so love [name]Gawain[/name] and find [name]Gareth[/name] pales in comparison.
Next to [name]Rosalind[/name], [name]Gareth[/name] sounds a little too “nose-to-the-grindstone”, I get my hands dirty when I do my rugged coal mining. It doesn’t mean it’s not handsome it’s just missing some of your special fairy magic. However, I do think this could be a great “normal” name to add to a more fanciful boys name. [name]Gareth[/name] [name]Perseus[/name], [name]Endymion[/name] [name]Gareth[/name], or Faramond [name]Gareth[/name] would spring to mind.
I want so badly to love [name]Gareth[/name], but the character on the Office dominates the association for me. [Americans-- [name]Gareth[/name] was the British [name]Dwight[/name].] It sounds a bit like [name]Garrett[/name] with a speech defect, too.

My favorite part is the meaning: “gentle.” I just picture a beautiful gentle giant of a man with gallant eyes and dark curls, who smells of leather and horses, fresh earth and wide open fields, and treats tiny precious lives (like babies and kittens) as if they are delicate glass. And the best part is, your man suggested the name!

Due to the fact that 90+% of the time, your favorite names are among my favorites as well, I tried to really hard to convince myself to like this name, but I just couldn’t bring myself around to it. I don’t dislike it exactly, I’m just very ‘blah’ about it. I do like it’s meaning though, and the fact that it’s Welsh, and the round table association. And though I like [name]Rosalind[/name] quite a bit more as a name, I do see how [name]Gareth[/name] could work well in a sibset. I have a feeling that this is one of those names that if I knew someone with the name, I could probably like it. But for the moment, I really have no strong positive or negative feelings for it, and don’t feel it’s of the same caliber of some of the other ones you’ve talked about at other times.
