Bonjour Neuilly, [name]Gaspard[/name] est le nom francais pour [name]Jasper[/name] ou [name]Caspar[/name], n’est pas? Ok, enough French! I think most people in [name]North[/name] [name]America[/name] (other than the French Canadian province of [name]Quebec[/name]) would pronounce the “d” in [name]Gaspard[/name]. But if you like the name (I do!), go for it! It’s good that you live in a multi-cultural enviroment so perhaps more people will know how to pronounce it properly. You will have to correct some people but they’ll soon get the hang of it. I wouldn’t let that discourage you from choosing it! [name]Bonne[/name] chance!
I like [name]Gaspard[/name], it’s very handsome and very French! I know not to say the D at the end but I didn’t know that at first. Have you ever seen the French actor/model [name]Gaspard[/name] Ulliel? He probably fuels my love for this name. I think at first people would have trouble with it but once you correct them a few times, they’ll remember.
I think in the English speaking community it would be very normal to include the ‘d’ in the pronunciation.
If you remove the ‘d’ then it becomes [name]Gaspar[/name] which reminds me of [name]Casper[/name] and [name]Jasper[/name] and I would choose one of these instead of [name]Gaspard[/name].
[name]Gaspard[/name] is handsome! I had a teacher in H.S. with [name]Gaspard[/name] as his surname, so I know that the ‘d’ is silent!
I really like [name]Gaspard[/name], and think most people would hear it once and never forget. It’s a memorable name.
[name]Caspar[/name]'s on my own list, I think the sound is so handsome. Same goes for [name]Gaspard[/name]. Such a handsome sound!
Yes, lol. Actually I’ve seen him in person. NYC has its benefits…such as actors showing up to small film festivals. The association definitely doesn’t hurt it my mind
