Gavrie? Honest opinion

What do you think of the name Gavrie or [name_m]Gavri[/name_m]? It’s a shorter version of [name_m]Gavriel[/name_m] which is the original Hebrew of [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]. It’s pronounced as gahv-ree. ( a soft “a”)

Is it said like GAV-ree (like [name_m]Gavin[/name_m]) or like GAVE-ree? It sounds a bit awkward to me either way but I think I prefer the first way.

I’ve never heard of this name until now, but I love the “av” sound ([name_f]Aviva[/name_f] is a recent favorite of mine). It feels fresh and youthful, yet still imaginable on an adult.

I think I prefer the [name_m]Gavri[/name_m] spelling.

It’s definitely interesting - it sounds charming like [name_u]Gabby[/name_u] but also sophisticated! I think if you love it go for it! There are lots of unique and fun names out there, [name_m]Gavri[/name_m] will stand out beautifully!

Thank you

I have never encountered it before but I find it charming. I definitely prefer the [name_m]Gavri[/name_m] spelling. This spelling looks more like a complete name whereas Gavrie looks nicknamey to me.

I’ve never heard of [name_m]Gavri[/name_m], but it actually sounds pretty cool. I’d opt for [name_m]Gavri[/name_m], as Gavrie looks a bit off.

[name_m]Just[/name_m] chiming in to agree with the others, I greatly prefer the [name_m]Gavri[/name_m] spelling. It does look more like a name (vs. a nickname) that way.

I think you will have to correct pronunciation a lot. Is it gav-ree (a flat A like in at? OR gahvree (an ahhhh sound), OR gayvree (sounding like [name_u]Avery[/name_u])? I think people would learn the correct pronunciation quickly, but there might be a mispronunciation every time someone new reads his name, if that bothers you. I really like the name, though!

It sounds like two mismatched syllables put together. Doesn’t flow off the tongue smoothly.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] it!!!

I love it too! I prefer the [name_m]Gavri[/name_m] spelling.

I prefer [name_m]Gavri[/name_m].

[name_m]Gavri[/name_m] is lovely (I definitely prefer it sans the -e; more streamlined). He’s both sweet and handsome, and has a lovely dash of spunk. He fits right in with your favourites list (signature), too.
