[name]Simon[/name] is one of my absolute favourite names. To me, it gives off the impression of someone studious and possibly a bit nerdy but without the level of dorkiness of, say, [name]Egbert[/name]. I think of [name]Simon[/name] as being “geek chic”, and I’m curious what other names people think fit that label.
Also- would these kinds of names be considered “hipster”? I’ve never really understood what that word means!
I completely agree with you it is totally “Geek Chic” as you so amazingly ranked it. But may I also add [name]Spencer[/name] to the mix or “Geek Chic” as I think, boy or girl, Spencers are in the very same group. [name]Don[/name]'t you just love S names!?!
It appears that all of my favorite names have already made the geek chic list… so you must have identified my “style” exactly! [name]Simon[/name], [name]Arthur[/name], [name]Martin[/name], [name]Malcolm[/name]… [name]Millicent[/name], [name]Winifred[/name], [name]Dorothy[/name]… -sigh- they’re just so lovely!
“Geek Chic” is a new phrase for me. The name [name]Simon[/name] is quite a old traditional name from the Bible so I’m really not getting the label you’ve assigned. Does the “geek” come from modern popular culture? I know [name]Simon[/name] was a Chipmunk but to label the name [name]Simon[/name] a “geek chic” name because of a cartoon is not accurate in my opinion.
I don’t know mischa… I didn’teven think of the cartoon until you brought it up. to me the name still sounded geek chic as they put it though…
As for the love of this catagory, I totally have to agree. My fav girl name really fits, [name]Henrietta[/name], but i’m not sure about [name]Conrad[/name], my favorite boy name. Thoughts?
Some other names on my list that fit are things like [name]Malcolm[/name] and others already named.
I was just thinking about it, and would you guys says that lots of literary names are geek chic? [name]Just[/name] a thought.
