How do we feel about gender neutral names for boys like [name_u]Jamie[/name_u] and [name_u]Kelly[/name_u]?
I adore [name_u]Jamie[/name_u]! It definitely depends on the name for me (just like any other), but I really like the idea of gender neutral names
I love [name_u]Jamie[/name_u] for a boy! I think it’s so sweet and friendly.
Kelly feels more feminine to me, though I know it’s unisex. In general, I like many unisex names for boys, [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] just happens to be one I much prefer on a girl.
Love [name_u]Jaime[/name_u]! [name_u]Kelly[/name_u]’s okay A youtubers I watch recently had a baby named [name_u]Alder[/name_u] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] & it gave me a new appreciation for the name!
I’m a big supporter neutral names and soft names for amab children. Neutral names won’t really stay neutral if people stop using them for their boys.
And I’m especially on board with bringing back traditionally masc names that stopped being used/were dramatically used less for boys after they heavily trended for girls (your examples of [name_u]Jamie[/name_u] and [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] fit this discription, but also names like [name_u]Whitney[/name_u], [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u], [name_u]Vivian[/name_u], [name_u]Ashley[/name_u], [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], you get the idea.)
Love [name_u]Jamie[/name_u] for any gender, but slightly more for a boy. [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] is okay on a boy, but I don’t particularly like it in general.
Overall I like gender neutral names on boys; the names are often soft sounding and/or nature themed, which I like, and I think gender-neutral names allow for more flexibility in the child’s identity, if that makes any sense (reading that again, it does make sense, but I’m not sure how to better explain it.)
Jamie , [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] , [name_u]Jesse[/name_u] , [name_u]Brooks[/name_u] , [name_m]Oakland[/name_m]/ [name_u]Oakley[/name_u], [name_u]Taylor[/name_u], [name_u]Riley[/name_u] , [name_u]Casey[/name_u], [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], [name_u]Layton[/name_u] , [name_u]Blake[/name_u] , [name_u]Blair[/name_u] , [name_f]Jade[/name_f] are some of my favourite gender neutral names
I love [name_u]Jamie[/name_u] on a boy !
I don’t like [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] on anyone, but [name_u]Jamie[/name_u] is super cute (on any gender).
I adore gender neutral names on boys.
My favorites atm are [name_u]Eden[/name_u], [name_u]Marlow[/name_u], [name_u]Darcy[/name_u], [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u], [name_u]Hollis[/name_u], [name_u]Ellis[/name_u], [name_u]Sascha[/name_u], [name_u]Adair[/name_u], [name_u]Blair[/name_u], [name_u]Bryn[/name_u], and [name_u]Indy[/name_u] to name a few (I like a lot more)
Of the 2 you listed I like [name_u]Jamie[/name_u]
Jamie is so sweet
I generally like gender neutral names! I feel like they are extra tricky for boys becUse,gender neutral is just the pit stop before turning into fully girls names. For example, here are names that were originally boys names, then unisex, and now…
- Ashley
- Lesley
- Lauren
- Evelyn
- Addison
Unisex Names that [name_m]Lean[/name_m] Girl:

I like [name_u]Jamie[/name_u]! [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] is okay.
How I feel about gender neutral names for boys depends on the names, just like how i feel about masculine names for boys depends on the names. For example, I like [name_u]Sam[/name_u].
I like gender neutral names -they’re soft and interesting. [name_u]Jamie[/name_u] is sweet and I’ve actually come across two male Kellys
Jamie is so popular. That sort of puts me off of it. Not a huge fan of [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] as a full name, but I like [name_m]Kellan[/name_m] nn [name_u]Kelly[/name_u]. I also like [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] for a boy. I originally thought it was a boys name until I came onto this site because I had only seen it used on males. Overall, I like gender neutral names on boys.
My second sons name is [name_u]Jamie[/name_u] and I love it. [name_f]My[/name_f] father in law still fights us on it though being a “girls name” but he’s really the only one. We’re TRYING so hard to name our third guy (only a few weeks away) and I’ve suggested [name_u]Keller[/name_u]/Kellen knowing I like [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] but not expecting the hubby to go for it. The other night at dinner he was live, “what do you think about [name_u]Kelly[/name_u]?” I was shocked. One of my dad’s favorite movies was clint eastwood’s “[name_u]Kelly[/name_u]’s Heroes” and it really helps find the masculine side to the name.
I love gender neutral names on boys! Here are some of my favorites:
[name_u]Ellis[/name_u]
[name_u]Briar[/name_u]
[name_u]Sparrow[/name_u]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_u]August[/name_u]
[name_u]Piper[/name_u]
[name_u]Kit[/name_u]
This is why we didn’t announce gender or name at the time of our baby shower. We didn’t want any gifts that were hyper gender coded, and by not giving people anything to make assumptions off of we made that easier. Nearly everything we got at the shower just had cute animals on it and were in colors like green, yellow, and orange. I think it saved everyone a headache really.
That’s awesome that your husband is on board! I think [name_u]Jamie[/name_u] and [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] (or [name_m]Kellen[/name_m] if you still find yourself leaning that direction) make for great sibling names.
I like [name_u]Jamie[/name_u], [name_u]Hadley[/name_u], [name_u]Percy[/name_u], [name_u]Robin[/name_u], and [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] on boys.
