I’m very interested in the theory behind the Chinese gender charts, and how accurate they are. I’m very skeptical about it. But i’d love to know some of your results, and if they were/are correct.
If you haven’t already, please take a moment to humor me with your results. I’d love to hear about the people who already have children and if the prediction was right, or the women who are currently pregnant and if the chart is right about their little bundle.
For me, the chart was correct for my first pregnancy (predicted girl, had a girl) but it’s wrong this time around (it says boy but I’m having a girl). I did some research on the chart myself during my first pregnancy and it really seems like it has a 50-50 rate - just like everyone else does. So I don’t put much stock in it!
What is the theory behind it? I’m pretty sure if you took a group of women who were all the same age and all conceived in the same month they would have a roughly 50/50 split of boys and girls.
I put in the facts for my pregnancy with my daughter and it said girl, so it ‘worked’ for mine, although I don’t believe a word of it myself. These things are always kind of fun, though
Thanks everyone for your replies. I’ll be sure not to put too much faith in it in the future. Very interesting though, and I suppose still a fun thing to do.
Thanks Ladies!
Wrong for me! [name_m]Said[/name_m] I was going to have a boy, and I have a girl. =)
Have you heard about nub theory? I hadn’t until I got pregnant and I became really interested in it. It was right for me. As with everything there’s no guarantee that it can determine the sex of the baby, but it’s one of the theories that seems to be a bit more accurate than others.
I know people who swear by the Chinese prediction calendar however I don’t trust in it.
Interestingly many studies I have read say the most accurate prediction amongst all the old wives tales is mother’s intuition. Most of the others (Chinese calendar, ring on string, marks on stomach etc) accuracy rank around 50%, as would tossing a coin haha. Whereas the mom’s gut instinct, I believe about 70-75% accurate. I guessed correctly with my pregnancies but who knows.
Most other tests and old wives tales predicted I’d have a boy and I felt like it was a boy but turns out we’re expecting a little girl and this Chinese prediction chart was one of the few things that was right! I’m sure it’s just coincidence but I find it fun.
This particular chart was wrong for me (said I would have a boy, I am having a girl). But, from what I have been told, that chart isn’t considered accurate by the Chinese because you need to go by your lunar year. When I go by my lunar year and use the same chart, it says girl, so in that case it would be accurate.
