General thoughts on Tristan?

 WDYT of [name_u]Tristan[/name_u]?

[name_f]Triste[/name_f] means sad in [name_m]French[/name_m], so that’s my automatic association when I hear the name. It’s a nice name, but I can’t ever get into it because of the meaning.

I like it it’s cute

Here it is unisex. I"ve met one girl and one boy named [name_u]Tristan[/name_u]. [name_f]IMO[/name_f] there are few nn options for a boy named [name_u]Tristan[/name_u]. The girl went by Trissy, Triss. The boy had no nn.

I absolutely love [name_u]Tristan[/name_u], and think it’s rather silly to use on a girl. There’s a band from [name_f]England[/name_f] called The Vamps, and their drummer is a 19-20 year old [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] ([name_u]Tristan[/name_u] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_m]Vance[/name_m], he has a gorgeous name!), and he goes by [name_u]Tris[/name_u] a lot, actually. He’s the only one I know of, so he’s my first association, apart from [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] and [name_f]Isolde[/name_f]. It’s a lovely choice.

I love it! I think it’s a very handsome name, with history. Thanks to the legend of [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] and [name_f]Isolde[/name_f], it has a romantic feel to me, a la [name_m]Romeo[/name_m]. There was a very talented dancer on Dancing with the Stars named [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] McManus–boy, was he cute!

I really love this name. Its a name my husband and I picked out for a child, when we had one, many years ago. However its become much more popular now, so we aren’t sure if we will end up using it. I do still love it though. We knew if from [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] and [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] but I first fell in love with it when I saw the movie Stardust lol. We are fantasy movie lovers. It just sounds poetic yet still very masculine.

I love the name, but the meaning gives me pause. If I had a son born at a difficult time (a recent death in the family, etc.), I’d give it serious consideration.
