I’ve liked the name [name_u]Genesis[/name_u] for years now, but I always seem to feel some kind of reservation about using it and I can’t identify what it is.
Genesis is rather common in the US, appearing in the top 100 every year since 2008 and currently ranking at #58. It doesn’t seem to be popular where I am in [name_f]Canada[/name_f] though, but that doesn’t typically bother me too much.
I love the meaning of [name_u]Genesis[/name_u], and it seems especially suiting as it means “beginning” - a life beginning, and if our first child, our family’s beginning. It has a lovely sentiment, so I really can’t seem to figure out what is holding me back from committing to it on my list.
What are your thoughts on the name [name_u]Genesis[/name_u]? I know it’s very religious, but my entire list is, so that also doesn’t really bother me too much!
I think [name_u]Genesis[/name_u] is super cool! I knew 2 in high school and it fit them both really well even though they were very different people. I’m not religious at all but I have a few heavy biblical names on my list as well, I don’t think it’s much of an issue either.
Also Canadian and I can say that I don’t see it as a very common name. I work with lots of people and kids and I have only encountered 1 [name_u]Genesis[/name_u] !
I think it’s a great name and fits really well with other names in your UC. I really like how you pair a more religious name with a more “frilly vintage “ name
I also love nicknames and I can envision a few cute ones !
My suggestions would be
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_u]Genesis[/name_u]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_u]Genesis[/name_u]
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Genesis[/name_u]
It’s not my style. I find it a bit strange to be honest, and I think most people where I live would (it doesn’t rank at all in the UK). However, I have read it’s very popular among Latinos in the United States.
