Genevieve?

Im kind of on the fence about the name

Can those who like it tell me why (im really trying to be sold on it)

And also if you dont like it tell me why!

For me whats holding me back is that its such an old name that it sometimes feels like its lost its charm, like with [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], and also the lack of good nicknames. Not a fan of [name_f]Evie[/name_f] or [name_f]Gen[/name_f], unfortunately

If you donā€™t like it donā€™t use it. No point in trying to make it suit.

[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] is kind of nice - I think itā€™s strong but sweet, elegant, sleek and melodic. The thing that draws me away from it is the fact I feel it ends a little abruptly.
[name_f]Neve[/name_f], [name_f]Gigi[/name_f], [name_f]Ginny[/name_f] and [name_f]Vivi[/name_f] could be alternatives nn

I wouldnā€™t try and force it though if your not a big fan

Like you, Iā€™m on the fence about [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]. In general I like old names that arenā€™t overused, but somehow it feels unfinished and a little inelegant. I also think it sounds better than it looks. I canā€™t think of any nicknames I like, except maybe [name_f]Veva[/name_f], but thatā€™s a bit of a stretch.

I like it a lot. Feminine and strong sounding.

If you dont like [name_f]Evie[/name_f] or [name_f]Gen[/name_f] as nicknames, how about
[name_f]Vivi[/name_f]
[name_u]Ever[/name_u]
[name_f]Nina[/name_f]
[name_f]Genna[/name_f]
[name_f]Gigi[/name_f]
[name_f]Viva[/name_f]

I love, love [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], and I like it with the [name_m]French[/name_m] accent, GeneviĆØve, even more. My nickname of choice would be Vive, which means ā€œto liveā€ in [name_m]French[/name_m] (as in 'Vive la [name_f]France[/name_f]"). If youā€™re a fan of [name_u]Paris[/name_u], GeneviĆØve is the patron saint of the city who is supposed to have saved it from the Huns. Her saintā€™s day is in [name_u]January[/name_u], if youā€™re due then.

HOWEVER, despite all this, if you donā€™t love it as a name maybe you should go with a more firm favourite

I love [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], and like the previous poster, Iā€™m even more in love with the [name_m]French[/name_m] pronunciation.

Personally, Iā€™m not a nickname kind of lady, so if I named a daughter [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], thatā€™s what we would call her; why give a girl such a gorgeous name and not use it full time?

Good luck deciding!!

Yes  Iā€™ve seen quite a few people be on the fence about it because of the nicknames possibilities. I think theyā€™re inevitable though, especially when it comes to longer names, so itā€™s worth to consider that haha

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Gigi[/name_f] and [name_u]Ever[/name_u].
[name_u]Ever[/name_u] seems a bit of a stretch though  but it would make a lovely nn in my opinion

It reminds me of the dog from [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]. What about [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] or [name_f]Giselle[/name_f]?
