DH and I are majorly struggling with names for boy #2!
My two “black horse” names are [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] and [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] – while DH and I had agreed previously that those would only be used as middle names, I’m starting to consider trying to bring it back as a first name option.
Our only name we have so far is [name_m]George[/name_m] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u]. While I like it, I don’t [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] it. And I really want to [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] the name.
I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] and I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u], but I know that DH will only consider [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] as a first, due to DS1 being named [name_u]August[/name_u], and DH thinks that having an [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] is way too unisex/close to feminine for two boys.
So what name do you like better for [name_u]August[/name_u]'s brother?
[name_m]George[/name_m] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u]
Or…
[name_m]Wilder[/name_m] ______? ([name_m]Don[/name_m]'t have a MN for wilder yet!)
Any other name suggestions are VERY very welcome!!
I prefer [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] to [name_m]George[/name_m]. [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] but I’ll be honest I have always hated the name [name_m]George[/name_m]. That’s just personal preference though. However, I feel like [name_m]George[/name_m] fits better with [name_u]August[/name_u] if the sib set “going” together is important to you.
[name_m]Wilder[/name_m] is such a wonderful name don’t think I have ever heard it before but I thing it goes well with [name_u]August[/name_u] much prefer it to [name_m]George[/name_m] x
I think [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] sound very cool together… two handsome, literary/authorial-sounding names. What is [name_u]August[/name_u]'s middle name? [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] sounds good, but maybe you want something more classic in the middle for balance?
I love [name_m]Wilder[/name_m]. [name_m]George[/name_m] is okay, handsome, I am just not personally a fan. [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] are great together. I am just working on a middle name for [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] now. [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] is a hard name to find a middle name for.
I like [name_m]George[/name_m] better mostly because I prefer classic names. Neither are really my style but I feel like I’d have a hard time taking someone named [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] seriously if he decided to become a doctor or run for public office.
[name_u]August[/name_u]'s middle name is [name_m]Patrick[/name_m]. We chose that name in memory of his Uncle who died shortly before [name_u]August[/name_u] was born. Before [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] died we said we didn’t want to use family names to avoid family politics, but [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] was set to be [name_u]August[/name_u]'s godfather and was DH’s best friend, so we decided to make an exception. We don’t really have a preference for middle name style or origin, just so long as it flows well together.
[name_m]George[/name_m], without a doubt. [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_m]George[/name_m] are dashing as brothers. [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] is strictly middle name material to me. I just find it odd as a name without any sort of personal significance. [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] than what, exactly? [name_m]George[/name_m] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] would be a nice choice.
I love [name_m]Wilder[/name_m]; that’s on our extremely short list for if the next one’s a boy (the only other boy name we’ve agreed on is [name_m]Brooks[/name_m]). I kinda like [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] [name_u]Everett[/name_u], but I really like nature names (my girl is named [name_f]Isla[/name_f]). However, if you’re worried about the “supreme court justice test,” perhaps give him a more mainstream middle name in case he wants to go by that instead? But my 2 cents about the supreme court justice/doctor/politician thing is that names nowadays are way more varied than they were a generation or two ago, and people are used to hearing “different” names, so I wouldn’t worry about that.
The distinguished and majestic [name_m]George[/name_m]…for a first name. [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] is better as a quirky mn choice since one of its meanings is “to lose one’s way”.
FYI - [name_u]August[/name_u] de Wilde was a Belgian painter in the 1800’s and [name_m]Wild[/name_m] [name_u]August[/name_u] was a 1980’s rock band.
While I love [name_m]Wilder[/name_m], I have never understood the [name_m]George[/name_m] thing. Around here, it’s seen as an old farmer name (along with [name_m]Henry[/name_m]). [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] has a flair that [name_m]George[/name_m] lacks, somehow : ) Though I really like the [name_m]French[/name_m] name, [name_m]Georges[/name_m].
So the brothers would be [name_u]Gus[/name_u] and [name_m]George[/name_m] or [name_u]Gus[/name_u] and [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] and in this context I like [name_u]Gus[/name_u] and [name_m]George[/name_m] but why not go with
[name_m]Wilder[/name_m] and [name_u]Kelly[/name_u]? I think they make a good pair. [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] [name_u]August/name_u and [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m]!
Personally, I prefer [name_m]George[/name_m] to [name_m]Wilder[/name_m], and I think I agree with your husband that [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] is a bit too feminine for a first name. [name_m]George[/name_m] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] is a beautiful name, and even [name_m]George[/name_m] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] isn’t too bad
I really like both [name_m]George[/name_m] and [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] with [name_u]August[/name_u]! I feel like whichever way you go will really define the sibset, though: [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_m]George[/name_m] are regal and classic, while [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] are literary, funky, quirky, and a bit trendy (in a good way!).
I would honestly combine them and do either [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m] or [name_m]George[/name_m] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m]. I really love both. I tend to prefer [name_m]George[/name_m] as a mn, so I would do [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m], personally, but [name_m]George[/name_m] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] is lovely, too.
