Georgia on my mind

[name]Hi[/name] all,
DH and I are TTC, so I’ve been thinking about our list again. I mentioned [name]Georgia[/name] to DH the other day and surprisingly enough he loved it. I think I love it, but I’m not sure I’m brave enough to use it on my child. [name]Do[/name] you think this name has a lot of teasing potential? I know it’s a pretty classic name, but we live in a small community in the Midwest where most people use names like [name]Lilly[/name], [name]McKenzie[/name], and other more popular options.

The other issue I have with it is that we are having a hard time choosing a middle name. At one point we had said that we would like all our children to have a biblical name somewhere in their name, but I don’t know of one that flows well with [name]Georgia[/name]. Also, if there isn’t one we like or like the meaning of, then I don’t see the point in forcing that theme. Any suggestions on biblical names or just regular names? We’be already used [name]Elizabeth[/name]. Thanks!

I adore the name [name]Georgia[/name]…and I don’t think it has any more teasing potential than other names. [name]IMO[/name], kids tease each other about ANY name. Sure, some can have more potential - names that can be slang for body parts, “stripper” names, “hippie” names…I don’t think [name]Georgia[/name] is one of those. Why would a [name]Georgia[/name] be teased? Because the name is also a state and country? I can’t even think of a reason to tease a [name]Georgia[/name].

Biblical names that go well with [name]Georgia[/name]: (unfortunately I don’t know a TON about biblical characters or meanings, so not sure if these have a nice meaning or not)

[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Rachel[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Ruth[/name] (this flow is lovely, but might be too old-fashioned together)
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Eve[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Magdalene[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Miriam[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Naomi[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Abigail[/name]

I love [name]Georgia[/name]! Its very pretty. I don’t think it has teasing potential and it’s beautiful with [name]Mae[/name]. It’s quite popular here in the UK so it doesn’t sound strange to my ears at all. [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Catherine[/name] came to mind with [name]Mae[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name], or how about:
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Eve[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Ruth[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Naomi[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Rebekah[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Susannah[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Abigail[/name]

Thanks for the suggestions!

I’m not sure why I feel like she would get teased. Maybe it’s more of a concern that people will just dislike the name.

I really like [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Ruth[/name], but DH said it was too old lady. He suggested [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Love[/name] (pretty sure he was kidding…) or [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Grace[/name]. I don’t mind [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Grace[/name]. I just feel like [name]Grace[/name] is too much of a filler. I know [name]Elizabeth[/name] is often a filler, but it’s my middle name, so for us it was meaningful. If we were to have a second DD, I’d like her name to mean something to us as well.

[name]Georgia[/name]'s pretty popular where I live. The only teasing potential I see is if you live in/near to [name]Georgia[/name] State but as you say you’re in the Midwest I’d imagine you probably don’t have much of a connection to it if any at all.

And what about [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Ruth[/name]?

If you’re interested in using a virtue name in the middle spot, I think [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Faith[/name], [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Verity[/name], and [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Patience[/name] are all lovely.

I too can’t think of any reason to tease [name]Georgia[/name]. I taught a nine-year-old [name]Georgia[/name] in camp once; awesome name, even on younger kids! It ages so well. [name]Georgia[/name] is on my list, honoring a grandfather

Sorry for repeats:
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Abigail[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Magdalen/name
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Mary[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Miriam[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Yael[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Amity[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Faith[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Hope[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] Meritt
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Felicity[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Blythe[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Natalie[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Ellen[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Alice[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Faye[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Quinn[/name]

[name]Georgia[/name] would be a lovely sibling name for [name]Mae[/name]'s sister. [name]Both[/name] names have spunk with a little sass added in for good measure. I don’t know why you would think it had teasing potential. Personally, I can’t think of any issues. Since [name]Georgia[/name] is a place name, I would eliminate any word names in the middle spot to avoid combos that are too descriptive.

[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Louise[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Emmeline[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Beatrice[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Bernadette[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Lucille[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Estelle[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Vivian[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Frances[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Catherine[/name]

[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Caroline[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Blythe[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Camille[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Meredith[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Bellamy[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Tamsin[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Colette[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Lisette[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Mariel[/name]

I think the teasing potential would depend on the sensitivity level of the kid. I know a 7-year-old [name]Georgia[/name] and I’ve asked her if she gets teased, she’s always said no. I hear people call her [name]George[/name], [name]Georgie[/name], [name]Georgia[/name]-pordgia and curious [name]George[/name], but she doesn’t object to any of it. A more sensitive kid might get upset, but I’d imagine only mildly.

I think it’s relatively tease-proof! It’s sweet and spunky, classic yet fresh. Great name.

I think it’s cute. If I were you, I’d go through your name, your mother’s and his mother’s first/middle names, and then go on to grandmas’ if none if those float your boat.

Thanks for the ideas everyone! I have thought about [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Faith[/name] because [name]Faith[/name] is my first name, but I don’t particularly love the sound of [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Faith[/name]. I really like the suggestion of [name]Merritt[/name]! Ill be running that by DH this evening. Others I liked were [name]Catherine[/name] and [name]Lucille[/name]. As for mothers and grandmothers… I have to say they all have average to not so great names (at least my side!). I will keep that in mind though if we are still struggling when the time comes to actually name a DD.
