I genuinely love this name, and have been trying to sell my sister on it for weeks. (She has the perfect surname for it as well, which I won’t post for privacy reasons, but [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] + her last name is just divine)
But she keeps insisting that [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] the state has ruined the name [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] forever.
Is she right? Is [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] a tacky name these days because of the state association? Is there any way I can help her see what a gorgeous name this is?
(Her favorite name is [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], which I think goes perfectly with [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], although I wish she’d consent to spelling it [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]. Her other names for girls are [name_f]Myla[/name_f] (prn my-la) and [name_u]Finley[/name_u])
[name_f]My[/name_f] little sister is a [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], but we’re not in the US so I guess it’s just not a big deal here; it’s just seen as a very old English name which has been trendy for the past decade or so (it was in the top 20 for ages, now I think it’s #50-ish).
Maybe she’d like just [name_u]Georgie[/name_u], or [name_f]Georgina[/name_f]? They’re both well-used in my area too. [name_f]Jorja[/name_f] is in the top [name_f]England[/name_f]/[name_m]Wales[/name_m] 500 too for some reason, that’s maybe an idea (it makes me cringe, yes, but you can’t say it’s too much like the state). I think [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] and Georgiane are pretty too.
Nope - I know at least three [name_f]Georgia[/name_f]'s and the state doesn’t even cross my mind. But I live in Aus, so that may be slightly different. I think it’s a very pretty name
I am from the states and I think its a bit difficult to seperate mentally from the state, even more so than [name_f]Virginia[/name_f]. What about [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f]? I think its beautiful and distinct and you could always use [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] as a nn.
No, I have a close friend named [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] and I don’t think of the state ever. It’s a lovely name! I also love [name_f]Georgina[/name_f].
Nope…[name_f]Georgia[/name_f] is gorgeous as a fn! Please don’t let her use [name_u]Finley[/name_u]…it has that creepy/silly quality that makes it perfect for a character on The Addams Family (Pugsly, [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f], [name_u]Finley[/name_u]…).
