What do you think of the name [name]Georgiana[/name]? Too frilly or princessy? What about with the nickname [name]Georgie[/name]? My current combo is [name]Georgiana[/name] [name]Marie[/name] because my mom’s name is [name]Anne[/name] [name]Marie[/name] (-[name]Ana[/name] [name]Marie[/name]) but I’d like to hear some other suggestions for middle names too.
Oh, and I pronounce it “[name]Georgie[/name]-[name]Anna[/name]”
I adore this name! I’m still working on my husband, trying to convince him to at least consider it (he thinks it’s “frilly”). I’ve always pronounced it [name]Georg[/name]-ee-[name]AH[/name]-na, with a soft “a”. [name]Georgiana[/name] [name]Marie[/name] is lovely, and the fact that it’s after your mom is very sweet.
I am also in love with [name]Georgiana[/name], although I’ve always thought of it as more of a guilty pleasure choice =] I think that with a nickname or [name]Georgie[/name], [name]Gigi[/name], or even [name]Georgia[/name] it can be very usable! Although it is frilly, the fact that it is rooted in [name]George[/name] makes it less silly seeming to me. Anyway, I think that a short middle would probably balance it out well. I’ve always liked [name]Georgiana[/name] [name]May[/name] and [name]Georgiana[/name] [name]Lucy[/name], but I like a lot of lucystones above suggestions too. I like [name]Georgiana[/name] [name]Grace[/name] and [name]Georgiana[/name] [name]Adeline[/name]. Good luck!
[name]Georgiana[/name] has been one of my favorite names ever since I read it in Pride and Prejudice. That [name]Georgiana[/name] was so sweet that it has a great association now. [name]Georgie[/name] is probably one of the cutest nicknames I’ve ever heard as well. [name]Georgia[/name]/[name]Georgiana[/name] (forget which!) [name]Henley[/name], one of the cutest little girls I’ve ever seen in the [name]Narnia[/name] films, goes by [name]Georgie[/name], and wears it well. I think it can be classic, trendy, and a bit spirited.
I adore [name]Georgiana[/name]! I think [name]Georgiana[/name] [name]Marie[/name] is a very clever way to honor your mom. I think [name]Georgiana[/name] [name]Mary[/name] would be lovely, too–or maybe [name]Georgiana[/name] [name]Elise[/name]? [name]Georgiana[/name] [name]Claire[/name]?
[name]Georgia[/name] is on my list!, which is clearly similair, although perhaps slightly less “frilly” [name]Georgie[/name] is a great nickname, as is [name]Gigi[/name]!
I love it! I like that it has so many great nickname option. [name]Georgiana[/name] [name]Marie[/name] is nice, [name]Marie[/name] is very filler, but I like it in this case since it honours your mother.
I like it because of both [name]Georgiana[/name] [name]Darcy[/name] and [name]Georgie[/name] [name]Henley[/name], too! And actually [name]Georgie[/name] [name]Henley[/name]'s full name is [name]Georgina[/name], which I don’t really like.
I actually prefer [name]Georgia[/name]…which I think is also beautiful with mn [name]Marie[/name]. It’s a little less “princessy”, and the adorable [name]Georgie[/name] nn still works!
I have never liked the name [name]Georgia[/name] (maybe because I live right on the [name]Georgia[/name] border) but I actually really love [name]Georgiana[/name]
I don’t dislike it, but I don’t love it. And maybe that’s because I grew up in neighboring [name]Alabama[/name]. So neither [name]Georgia[/name] nor [name]Georgiana[/name] really appeal to me. I would offer [name]Savannah[/name] as an alternative. You don’t get the incredibly cute [name]Georgie[/name] nn with it, but for my ears, it sounds lovely, girly, and slightly southern —just like your other choices. If you like, you could use [name]Anna[/name] as a nn or [name]Annie[/name].
I like the name [name]Georgiana[/name]! I think it’s one of the nicer ultra-girly names. Because it is a long name, I would try to keep the middle name short and simple. I think the nickname [name]Georgie[/name] is adorable!
I think [name]Georgiana[/name] is adorable!! I personally hate the NN georgie though! I think [name]Gigi[/name] or [name]Gianna[/name] or [name]Gia[/name] would all be much MUCH better choices.
I adore [name]Georgiana[/name]! It’s been in my top 3 (top 2 really) for years. I love that it is feminine and maybe a touch frilly but not overly so because of the strong sound at the beginning. Of course the awesome Pride & Prejudice connection helps The nn [name]Georgie[/name] is really cute but I probably like [name]Georgia[/name] or Gi a little more.
In the film The Duchess, [name]Georgiana[/name] is pronounced jorh-jay-nah. I’d never heard this pronunciation before, does anyone know if it is historical/archaic? I always thought it was jorh-jee-ah-nah. I like it pronounced either way, but I guess jorh-jee-ah-nah is more common and jorh-jay-nah would be confusing to most people?
[name]Ah[/name], this is how I’m pronouncing it. I realize that my initial post didn’t make that clear, sorry. But [name]Anna[/name] is sometimes pronounced that way, too.
Jorh-jay-nah/jor-jah-nah is common in [name]Britain[/name] and assorted Commonwealth countries, jor-jee-ah-nah is common in the US - well none of them are super common in the US, but its the most usual pronunciation in [name]America[/name]. I like the jor-jah-nah version best.
[name]Georgiana[/name] is my favourite of the female [name]George[/name]-names. [name]Georgia[/name] is incredibly common in Australia and makes me think of [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Peaches[/name] in the US, [name]Georgina[/name] isn’t as soft, and [name]Georgette[/name], like [name]Suzette[/name], is just a particular aesthetic I find a bit dated without being old enough to be endearing.
I’m a [name]Jordanna[/name], I gotta say I got [name]Georgiana[/name] (jor-jee-ah-nah) more times than I can count growing up, apparently far more people were comfortable with it than they were with [name]Jordanna[/name].
