Georgiana

I’m looking for some reviews and honest thoughts on this name! I know some people prefer other versions of the name ([name]Georgia[/name], [name]Georgina[/name], etc) but that’s neither here nor there for me. I’m just looking for thoughts on THIS name.

What do you think of the name itself? [name]Do[/name] you have any associations with it? What kind of girl do you imagine with this name?

Also, what do you think of the nn [name]Gia[/name]?

I say it like jor-gee-ah-na, not jor-jay-nah.

Thanks!

[name]Georgiana[/name]'s a beautiful name but I prefer [name]Georgina[/name]. [name]Georgiana[/name] reminds me of Mr. [name]Darcy[/name]'s sister in Pride & Prejudice. [name]Gia[/name]'s a cute nickname.

I love [name]Georgiana[/name]! It’s so elegant and sophisticated. As you can see from my signature, it’s one of my favourite names. It’s very feminine and frilly though, which would not suit everyone. It makes me think of [name]Georgiana[/name] from Pride and Prejudice too. [name]Gia[/name]'s a cute and original nickname, but I think [name]Georgiana[/name]'s too beautiful to be shortened.

I prefer [name]Georgiana[/name] over [name]Georgia[/name] and [name]Georgina[/name], and I think it’s beautiful. Very regal. The name reminds me of [name]Georgiana[/name], the Duchess of Devonshire (portrayed in The Duchess by [name]Keira[/name] Knightley). Can’t say I’m particularly fond of [name]Gia[/name] as neither a first name nor as a nickname though. I pronounce it like you do.

I say it jor-gee-ah-na as well…It’s an okay name…it seems like a bit of a mouthful for a kid though…and the spelling could trip some people up (like them putting an extra n in it). I think I would like this name better if it wasn’t ‘ruined’ for me. My best friend’s older sister is named this, and she is a total snobby backstabber, pretty but a stereotypical mean girl cheerleader. So yeah, I have a negative association on it. And now that’s all I can picture when i hear this name

[name]Gia[/name] is cute…I also think it’s a cute stand-alone name as well

Also, the [name]Georgiana[/name] I know goes by: [name]Anna[/name], [name]Annabel[/name], [name]Georgie[/name], and Georgian.

I also immediately thought of [name]Georgiana[/name] [name]Darcy[/name] from P&P. Sweet, pretty, innocent, well-liked. I think [name]Gia[/name] is very pretty, but I might like [name]Georgie[/name] better or at least just as well (which I think you’ve mentioned elsewhere that you like). [name]Gia[/name] sounds sexier and more sophisticated to me somehow, and [name]Georgie[/name] sounds very girl-next-door approachable. I don’t know whether that helps.

I’ve spent a of time with a toddler named [name]Georgette[/name] who is nn [name]Georgie[/name], so for me that nickname is kind of taken. I also just really like [name]Gia[/name]. I don’t think nicknames can actually be claimed but when I hear “[name]Georgie[/name]” I just think of the one I know so I think it would be a bit odd for me to use, it wouldn’t feel right in my head. But I do like it!

I think of [name]Georgiana[/name] [name]Darcy[/name], too! That’s actually why I love it so much, I’m a huge [name]Jane[/name] [name]Austen[/name] fan and P&P is one of my favorites. My nn of preference would be [name]Georgie[/name] or [name]Gigi[/name] (I also love [name]Annie[/name], but I don’t know, I’m not sure I love the idea of [name]Georgiana[/name] nn [name]Annie[/name]? It almost seems too forced?), but [name]Gia[/name]'s not bad, just not to my personal taste. I would love to meet a little [name]Georgiana[/name]! By far my favorite [name]George[/name] variation.

I love this name, but could never get DH on board. [name]GiGi[/name] is my preferred nickname, however.

I’ve loved this name since I read Pride and Prejudice/watched the movies. It seems very elegant, kind, and sweet to me.

I prefer just [name]Georgia[/name] or [name]Georgina[/name], personally. [name]Georgiana[/name] is pretty but it’s kind of airy and unnecessarily frilly. Not a bad name, just not my style, although I do think that it might trip a few people up and it might annoy her having to correct them on it.

[name]Gia[/name]'s a sweet nickname though

[name]Georgiana[/name] is a pretty and elegant name, love the nn [name]Gia[/name].

I know a 2 year old [name]Georgiana[/name] and we call her [name]George[/name]. It’s the cutest name for the cutest little girl.

I love [name]Georgiana[/name]; I much prefer it to [name]Georgina[/name]. My favourite nn is [name]Georgie[/name], but [name]Gia[/name] is cute too.

Also, I love how all the P&P enthusiasts are coming out of the woodwork. [name]Georgiana[/name] [name]Darcy[/name] is so kind and innocent that she made me consider the name.

Another one for the P&P enthusiasts! Lol. It’s on TV right now too!!! I really love [name]Georgiana[/name]. [name]Gia[/name] could work as a nn, but I prefer [name]Gigi[/name].

Totally agree. Four syllable names are a pet peeve of mine. Too much name. Also, adding an unnecessary “A” to a little girl’s name to make it frillier. [name]Arabella[/name], [name]Annabella[/name], [name]Julietta[/name]. All unnecessary, like wearing too much makeup or too many accessories.

[name]LOVE[/name] [name]Georgiana[/name]!!

I really like this name! It used to be in my top ten, but I’ve found other names that I like more. I think it’s sweet and elegant, reminding me of spring and Mr. [name]Darcy[/name]'s bright eyed little sister. I don’t care much for [name]Gia[/name] ([name]Georgie[/name] or [name]Gigi[/name] would be cuter, at least in my opinion) but it’s not bad.

Watch the BBC version if you haven’t  It’s a thousand times better than the movie.

[name]Add[/name] another vote for [name]Georgiana[/name] - makes me think of Mr [name]Darcy[/name]'s sister as well, and I love him so much that his first name ([name]Fitzwilliam[/name]) is on my definite boy’s list (although that’s not the only reason it’s on there). [name]Georgiana[/name] sounds so regal, but definitely usable. Good luck!
