Germanic gems

Two questions:

  1. Which of the names listed do you like best with our sibset?

  2. Any other name suggestions based on this list?

I realize not all of these names are Germanic, but that is the style my husband and I lean towards. Many Germanic names have the -ick/ic/ich (i.e. [name_m]Alaric[/name_m], [name_m]Dietrich[/name_m], [name_m]Friedrich[/name_m], etc.) sound in them, but that clashes with our surname. Thanks!!

[name_u]August[/name_u]
[name_m]Caledon[/name_m]
[name_m]Caspar[/name_m]
[name_m]Dieter[/name_m]
[name_m]Gunther[/name_m]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Kiefer[/name_m]
[name_m]Konrad[/name_m]
[name_m]Oswald[/name_m]
[name_m]Otto[/name_m]
[name_m]Tilman[/name_m]
[name_m]Viggo[/name_m]
[name_m]Walther[/name_m]

I like [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_m]Caspar[/name_m], [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], and [name_m]Otto[/name_m] the best with your sibset.

I like [name_u]August[/name_u] best!

I love [name_m]Konrad[/name_m], [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], [name_m]Kiefer[/name_m], [name_m]Caledon[/name_m] and [name_m]Walther[/name_m]

Suggestions based on name from Nameberrys’ list:
[name_m]Derek[/name_m]
[name_u]Emmett[/name_u]
[name_u]Everett[/name_u]
[name_m]Fynn[/name_m]
[name_m]Harlan[/name_m]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m]
[name_m]Kaiser[/name_m]
[name_m]Kellen[/name_m]
[name_m]Kurt[/name_m]
[name_m]Kurtis[/name_m]
[name_m]Leonard[/name_m]
[name_m]Leopold[/name_m]

I like [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] and [name_m]Walther[/name_m] with your sibset, and also [name_m]Viggo[/name_m] maybe.

I love [name_m]Alaric[/name_m], and I think it would work with your other children’s names.
What about…
[name_m]Henrik[/name_m]
[name_m]Wilhelm[/name_m]
[name_m]Peter[/name_m]
[name_m]Stefan[/name_m]

With [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f], [name_f]Elowen[/name_f], and [name_u]Barrett[/name_u] (love the girls’ names, especially, btw), I like these best: [name_m]Dieter[/name_m], [name_m]Gunther[/name_m], [name_m]Kiefer[/name_m], [name_m]Oswald[/name_m], and [name_m]Walther[/name_m]. Maybe [name_m]Konrad[/name_m].

These either don’t strike me as Germanic or don’t fit as well with your other names ([name_f]IMO[/name_f]):
[name_u]August[/name_u]
[name_m]Caledon[/name_m] - makes me think of body wash?
[name_m]Caspar[/name_m]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Viggo[/name_m]
[name_m]Otto[/name_m]
[name_m]Tillman[/name_m]

Other possibilities…not that I think you need more, because I like your list.
[name_m]Claus[/name_m]
Erhard
[name_m]Gerold[/name_m] / Gerhold
[name_m]Gervas[/name_m]
[name_m]Gerhard[/name_m] (a form of one of my current favorites  )
[name_m]Hans[/name_m]
[name_m]Lorenz[/name_m]

@chickenlady and @maurab - Thanks for your thoughts!

@xmintiex - Thanks for your thoughts! I forgot about [name_m]Leopold[/name_m], love the name and nn [name_m]Leo[/name_m]! Really like [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_m]Kaiser[/name_m] as well, thanks for your great suggestions!

@emmamay - We both have really liked [name_m]Alaric[/name_m] for a long time! The -ic sound isn’t necessarily a deal breaker but we do like to use nicknames and the natural nicknames for [name_m]Alaric[/name_m] seem to be [name_m]Al[/name_m] or [name_m]Ric[/name_m], neither of which we are huge fans. I really like [name_m]Henrik[/name_m] but my husband isn’t a fan. [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Wilhelm[/name_m] and it is actually a family name for us. My top girl name is actually [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] nn [name_f]Minnie[/name_f]. Our cousin really wants to use [name_m]Wilhelm[/name_m] or possibly [name_m]William[/name_m] for a son nn [name_m]Will[/name_m], so I feel ok using [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] but not [name_m]Wilhelm[/name_m]. Thanks for your feedback!

@shotsygirl - Really appreciate your thoughts! From your suggestions I like [name_m]Claus[/name_m]/[name_m]Klaus[/name_m], my husband loves [name_m]Hans[/name_m], and [name_m]Lorenz[/name_m] is really cool. I like [name_m]Lorenzo[/name_m] nn [name_m]Enzo[/name_m] too. I wondered if I should put any background as to why I like some of the names. The majority of the ones that you like best for our sibset are not family names while most that don’t fit quite as well have some family connection.
P.S. [name_u]Love[/name_u] your boys’ names!
