Don’t know if this has been shared already but since the american ssa data came out a couple of days ago I thought it’d be interesting to share germanys top names for 2021 too. Germany has no official name statistics the list has been compiled by namenerd Knud Bielefeld by going through 230 000 birth announcements link
[name_f]Leni[/name_f], [name_f]Leonie[/name_f], [name_f]Ida[/name_f], [name_f]Mira[/name_f], [name_u]Romy[/name_u], [name_u]Elias[/name_u], [name_m]Felix[/name_m], [name_m]Oskar[/name_m], [name_m]Linus[/name_m], [name_m]Raphael[/name_m] and [name_u]Julian[/name_u] are my favourites:)
I’m surprised [name_u]Maria[/name_u] and [name_f]Paula[/name_f] are so popular, I don’t see them a lot around me. The youngest [name_u]Maria[/name_u] I know is 12 years old.
Definitely not surprised by [name_m]Matteo[/name_m], there are little Matteo’s everywhere
It’s interesting how diffrent that is I haven’t met a [name_m]Matteo[/name_m] so far, only a little [name_f]Mattea[/name_f] but I know 3 Paulas who are under 5
I was pretty sure [name_m]Matteo[/name_m] would top the list, it’s just so popular in Europe at the moment. [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] has been having a moment for a few years now but I didn’t think it was going to be this popular; however, when looking at the rest of the list, it makes a lot of sense; lots of vowel heavy names with Ls and Ms somewhere in the mix.
