[name_m]Hi[/name_m], I posted in [name_f]April[/name_f] asking for help finding a name for the girl I’m expecting in [name_u]August[/name_u]. Her brother is [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] (which we love) so we’re looking for something similarly unique and strong. We’re still struggling to find the right name!
We like Ellie/Eleanor and Lily/Lillian but are worried they are too popular. Should we get over this?? Lol! I also like [name_u]Shea[/name_u], [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Sienna[/name_f] but my husband does not.
Something with Irish heritage and a cool first letter would be ideal, if possible. Also, we all have “an” at the end of our names (Quinn’s full name is Quinlan) so that would be nice but not a deal-breaker.
Should we start just making up names by putting letters together?? Any tips on where we can go to find unique (but not too odd) names?
I think [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] is very cute, and if you think it’s too popular you can take a swipe at [name_f]Lillith[/name_f]. As of making up names, as long as the name is decently easy to read and pronounce, I don’t see a problem with it. [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] doesn’t exactly end in “an” but it has the same sound and is Irish like you guys want. You could also call [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] like you wanted to with [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f].
Also maybe something that starts with Ann-, as opposed to something that ends with it. Nicknamed [name_f]Annie[/name_f] perhaps, or maybe something else.
[name_f]Annika[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Annaliese[/name_f]
[name_u]Quinlan[/name_u] nn [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is handsome. I love [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] & [name_f]Lily[/name_f] & they’re both super cute w/Quinn. I guess it depends on how much the popularity bothers you. [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] & [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] are both classic names, so it’s not like they’re trendy & over done. They’re both strong & timeless names.
Sorry for any repeats, but maybe you’ll like…

Isla-probably as popular as [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] & [name_f]Lily[/name_f] though, but Irish!

Sloane-I know siblings called [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] (it’s his full name) & [name_u]Sloane[/name_u]. [name_u]Love[/name_u] them together!
Thanks so much everyone! What are your thoughts about [name_u]Shea[/name_u]? It’s Irish, seems to go well with [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] and not very popular. No cute nickname though….
shea is cute too! I don’t think you really need to worry about popularity, I think eleanor and lillian are great names and have never met anyone named eleanor or lillian. I like the sound of lilly and quinn or shea and quinn!
How about
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] or [name_f]Elva[/name_f]? They are both Irish and I think they sound great with [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]. Especially [name_f]Elva[/name_f].
I also wanted to add that Lillian/Lily is very cute with Quinn, and I personally would go for it despite the popularity if it still is your favorite name after going through all the other pretty options
It’s funny her brother is named [name_u]Quinlan[/name_u] but seems to be known more for his nickname [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]. So in a way it seems like you might be looking for a longer “formal name” and then the identifying nickname. Btw: LOVE [name_u]Quinlan[/name_u]
So I looked up [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] and it’s #440 so since that range seems in a good comfort zone for you I looked in that range for some names that seem to carry a good nickname potential but also on the tad unique and strong side that might be able to go with Nn [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] and longer name [name_u]Quinlan[/name_u]
