I really love [name_f]Margot[/name_f], but with our last name also ending in a long “o” sound (3 syllables), I’m a little worried about the flow/rhymey-ness of it as a standalone name.
So then I got to thinking…I also love double-barreled names, as well as “smoosh” names (i.e. using two names to get to another “nickname”).
What name combos would you suggest to get to [name_f]Margot[/name_f] as a nickname (or as we say in the South, a “call by”)?
I’ve thought of [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Golden[/name_u] or [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Gloria[/name_f], but I don’t know if I’m totally sold on [name_f]Mary[/name_f] (I think [name_u]Golden[/name_u] is super cool, and [name_f]Gloria[/name_f] is a GP for me).
Send any suggestions! Also open to other “smoosh” names as well
The smoosh name idea is cute! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like the names [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f], or [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]/[name_f]Margery[/name_f] because those could easily be shortened to [name_f]Margot[/name_f].
My smoosh suggestions:
[name_u]Marley[/name_u] [name_f]Golda[/name_f]
[name_f]Marlene[/name_f] [name_f]Gloria[/name_f]
I also noticed in your signature that you like the name [name_f]Olive[/name_f] so perhaps you could incorporate that as a middle to a double barrel name which would be quite the smoosh indeed. I’m not saying you have to hyphenate a double barrel name, I just am so you can see the first name versus the middle.
[name_f]Mara[/name_f]-[name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_f]Martha[/name_f]-[name_f]Gwen[/name_f] [name_f]Olive[/name_f]
Other “[name_f]Mar[/name_f]” names I could think of but not with a middle:
[name_f]Marianna[/name_f]
[name_f]Mariela[/name_f]
Honestly I think a lot of “[name_f]Mar[/name_f]” names could be shortened to [name_f]Margot[/name_f]. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] you like some of them!
If you like [name_f]Mary[/name_f]-[name_u]Golden[/name_u], why not just name her [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] and call her [name_f]Margo[/name_f]/[name_f]Margot[/name_f]
Oh good grief. [name_m]Just[/name_m] name her [name_f]Margot[/name_f].
I think I’d actually go with [name_f]Margot[/name_f] - the extra syllable of your surname would hopefully break up the rhyme- but that’s just me [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Gloria[/name_f] is cute though and pps’ ideas of [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] nn [name_f]Margot[/name_f], [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] nn [name_f]Margo[/name_f] are great.
I’ll also suggest [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Margo[/name_f]’, [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Margo[/name_f]’, [name_f]Tamara[/name_f] [name_u]Golden[/name_u], [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] [name_f]Georgia[/name_f]/[name_f]Marnie[/name_f] [name_f]Golda[/name_f]
I’m certainly not opposed to just using [name_f]Margot[/name_f] outright - thanks for the reassurance @greyblue!
I feel like [name_f]Margot[/name_f] would need a good, sort of punchy/unexpected/cool middle name to work. Any thoughts on middles for [name_f]Margot[/name_f] 0rl@nd0? Does this even work as a fn/ln combo or should I move on?
Personally I really love the suggestion of [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Margot[/name_f]. Using another variation of [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] nn [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is also a good idea.
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] 0rl@nd0 almost sounds like one word to me because the O ending and beginning sounds run into eachother. I think the idea of a mash up name is fun, but then I have know people who have mushed their initials into a name and go by that so I am very open to unconventional nns.
[name_f]Malinda[/name_f] [name_f]Odette[/name_f]
[name_f]Malinda[/name_f] [name_u]Golden[/name_u]
[name_f]Melissa[/name_f] [name_f]Georgine[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] Glow
(I think any mix and match with these comboswould totally work too)
