They also say that babies born on a certain day of the week will have certain characteristics.

[name_f]Monday[/name_f]'s child is the father or mother in the family; nurturing in nature, dependable and organized, and protective of his/her family.
[name_f]Tuesday[/name_f]'s child is the problem solver and planner of the family. They are structured in nature, neutral in all matters and never take sides.
[name_f]Wednesday[/name_f]'s child is fully in control of every situation, does not want to be told what to do, knows it all, is spontaneous, vibrant and cordial.
Thursday’s child is quiet in nature and incredibly observant. They are generally listeners, not talkers, and analyzes situations very well.
Friday’s child is a leader, not a follower. He/she is very temperamental but has a big heart. Generally the instigator of everything.
[name_m]Saturday[/name_m]'s child likes to take control of family situations. He/she runs the show and make the rules, but will go out of his/her way for others any time.
[name_f]Sunday[/name_f]'s child is the passive, sensitive and warm member of the family. He/she tends to be shy and likes to keep to his/her self, but is very aware of his/her surroundings and usually is the secret keeper of the family.

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you know what day of the week your children were born and do they fit into the characteristic for that day?

Thanks in advance.

Sunday’s child is the passive, sensitive and warm member of the family. she tends to be shy and likes to keep to herself, but is very aware of her surroundings and usually is the secret keeper of the family. (TOTALLY MY DAUGHTER)

Not all Ghanaians actually name they’re children according to the days of the week. It is an Akan tradition that was adopted by the Ga’s and other tribes in the country. Though still not common in the Northern part of the country.
The names listed are usually given as middle names.
There are actually a lot of [name_f]Adwoa[/name_f]’s, [name_f]Yaa[/name_f]’s… still no one gets confused. Some parents actually do give these names as first names but with titles such as:
Ewura(meaning lady) e.g Ewura [name_f]Adwoa[/name_f], Ewura [name_f]Ama[/name_f]
Maame(meaning mother) e.g Maame [name_f]Ama[/name_f] This is sometimes shortened to M’ e.g M’[name_f]Adwoa[/name_f]

With boys:
Papa(Father) e.g Papa [name_m]Kojo[/name_m] etc.

Names were also given due to the situation of birth (those names aren’t popular nowadays)

Currently a new trend of naming has started in the country.
Word names have been translated to the local language and are been used for names instead of foreign ones(though those are still in use). These names are actually unisex.
E.G. Nhyira (means blessing)
Adom (means grace)
Ayeyi (means praise)

In general Ghanaian names are preety only if you get the pronunciation right cause the sounds are different from that of the [name_f]English[/name_f] pronunciations.
