Everyone knows someone who thinks/has thought their house was haunted right?
Well, my grandmother thought her old house was & she named her ghost [name]Sarah[/name]. I was wondering if anyone else has heard a true life ghost story & what the teller of the tale called their ghost?
My grandmother has tons of stories about [name]Sarah[/name] who she says was always leaving things around for her…old coins, hat pins, mostly small items. But once when she bought a new refrigerator she put it together and opened it hours later to find an antique crystal butter dish! She threw it away as fast as she found it! [name]Sarah[/name] also would steal things & return them once they were no longer needed…like dresses that my grandmother laid out for wedding & parties!
So creepy!
I’ve never had an experience myself, but maybe someone here
The local hotel is supposed to be haunted by a little girl who died the fire that burnt down the house/settlement that was originally on that property. Everyone says her name is [name]Tanya[/name] which I think is kind of strange because its really not an “old name” that you’d expect a ghost/someone who lived a hundred years ago to have. When my friends and I were little and didn’t know her name, only the legend, we used to call out names down the hallways to see if she’d come play with us (we were six and took swim lessons there). She was always [name]Emily[/name] or [name]Victoria[/name] to me.
People say she plays a lot of tricks on the staff, run around and if you stay in a certain room you’ll get a phone call in the middle of the night and hear a little girl laughing on the other end. I can not attest to any of these claims but I will say that I don’t go into the women’s bathroom on the ground floor alone. It has a strange vibe. I can’t explain it.
There is a story that that there is an old ghost nun at my school, she roams the corridoors of the music department because that is where the boarding house used to be. I think her name is sister [name]Emily[/name]…
We had a “ghost” at my parents house - we have no idea if it was male or female or anything, but for some reason we always referred to it as “[name]Maggie[/name]” lol.
[name]Maggie[/name] would do things like make the beds when we’d get up to use the bathroom in the night - you’d be gone for two minutes and come back to a perfectly made up bed with the cover corner turned back!
There were also lots of times we heard a voice calling, and times that things either went missing or appeared in random places - like a spoon being in the middle of my mothers bed and nobody knowing how it got there, etc.
My little niece though, whenever shes at my mums house she always starts crying hysterically, pointing where there’s nothing there and saying “[name]Man[/name]! [name]Man[/name]!” - so maybe [name]Maggie[/name] is male after all!
I know this is a little weird, but I had a sister who died when I was much younger (~8 years old) named [name]Helena[/name] and I still talk to her as if she’s grown up with me. Miss her a lot. So, IDK if [name]Helena[/name] counts as a “ghost” but…she is always with me.
Also, when I was younger my husband, friends, and I used to go graveyard hopping for a sort of thrill. I can’t remember why, probably because it was a name on a gravestone, but ever since then we always refer to weird things that happen in my creepy old, historical house as “[name]Arthur[/name].” But I don’t think it’s haunted at all. We’re just a little quirky.
