I just came across this name and my husband LOVES it. I like it a lot too, but when I looked at it’s popularity I saw that it is QUICKLY shooting up. [name]Do[/name] you think it’s a name that will one day sound dated, or do you think it will not rise much more and stay kind of unique and interesting sounding? I’d love to hear some feedback. Thanks!
personally it does sound kitchy popular like something an italian family would name their daughter who lives in New [name]Jersey[/name] - it’s pretty but being from the east coast it’s a name typically [name]Long[/name] Island, [name]Jersey[/name], families would choose…which is fine but that’s what it sounds like to me
That’s really good feedback. I live overseas but am from [name]California[/name] and have only heard it once, so it’s good to get feedback on the way the name feels to everybody else! Thanks!

Wow, such a different response than the first. Thanks so much! My hubby and I are trying to agree on a name and it seems just impossible this time around! [name]Elise[/name], [name]Marie[/name], [name]Clara[/name] and [name]Giana[/name]… not the best sib set, but maybe it will grow on me… or maybe I’ll move on to another name next week, that’s the way things have gone thus far!
I appreciate your input!
Well, I really like [name]Gianna[/name] with your girls’ names It’s very pretty.
I love it! Beautiful!
This cracked me up- I feel like every guido family in [name]Long[/name] Island and [name]Jersey[/name] has a [name]Gianna[/name], and they all pronounce it with three distinct syllables instead of the more Italian two and a half (JYAH-na.) It’s not a name I generally see on Italian immigrant families- they’re more likely to go with [name]Maria[/name], [name]Chiara[/name], [name]Anna[/name], or even [name]Giovanna[/name] (jyo-VAH-na.) I think if you’re in the South, Midwest, or [name]West[/name] Coast it’s a LOT less popular- those states really hike up the popularity ratings. [name]Gianna[/name] was #11 in NJ with 319 births, #17 in NY with 533 births, #15 in Connecticut with 105 births. So out of the 3,926 Giannas born in all of [name]America[/name] last year, about 25%- 957- were born in one of those three states.
That said, I don’t think it’s a bad name. It just has a stigma to me because of its popularity in my area.
I absolutely love it. My cousin almost used it for her baby girl born a few weeks ago, but decided on another name instead. We live on the [name]West[/name] Coast so I haven’t heard it as much, and I think it’s such a pretty name.
I love the name [name]Gianna[/name]! It is sweet yet spunky The only [name]Gianna[/name] I know is about 25 so I don’t think it sounds dated whatsoever.
I have a niece named [name]Giana[/name] [name]Sophia[/name], who was named that because of her father’s Italian ancestry…I always joked that the baby was going to come out being the whitest white baby ever, with such a full-fledged Italian name. Lo and behold, I have a beautiful niece with fair skin and bright red hair. Moral of the story, sometimes names so strongly associated with one culture don’t match your baby when the time comes
The first thing that came to my mind was New Jersy also. That being said, it is a pretty name. What about [name]Giulia[/name] or [name]Julia[/name]? Similar feel, but less [name]Jersey[/name] associated.
[name]Sofia[/name] and [name]Grace[/name] also would be pretty with your other girls.
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Gianna[/name]! I know one [name]Gianna[/name], who is in her mid-twenties, so I don’t think it would be overly popular. I can’t imagine it sounding dated, it’s refreshing after knowing so many [name]Jen[/name]/[name]Jenny[/name]'s. It could also be a diminutive form for [name]Giovanna[/name], unless that’s a little too Italian for you?

LOL i am cracking up at the above comments! I live in [name]Long[/name] Island in a heavily populated Italian “guido” (or wannabe) area. I know A LOT of [name]Gianna[/name]'s its a very heavily used name here and as pretty as the name really is i have been very turned off of it for this reason. I am also from an italian family (my family is actually from italy i am first generation American born) I dont know any italian born People using this name Haha. Not that that is a bad thing at all. It just makes me giggle a little because unfortunately its a cliché name here. If i took all that out of the equasion then i would like the name. I [name]Love[/name] the sound and the look of it. I wish it wasnt so obnoxious around here but, it is.
Wow, it seems like the name [name]Gianna[/name] gives off a really different vibe depending on where you’re from. I’m still trying to figure out if it flows good enough with my other girls names… Picking a name the fourth time around is turning out to be soooo much harder than it was with the first three!
