I love thinking of girls names even though I would probably prefer having boys. I’m not as fussy and indecisive when it comes to boy names, I stick with my no nonsense decisions whereas I always change tastes regarding girl names, one day I want short and modern one day I want long flowery and vintage. Anybody else the same? Or opposite?
pretty much! I guess there are lot more options out there for girls names. Up until recently I’d had my perfect name for a boy and a girl, however the popularity of the girls name is shooting up which has led me to start looking for a new favourite! With girls its a hassle, I simply cant chose. With boys I still have that one favourite that I can’t see changing for a while! I guess it could be down to the fact I’m simply not as interested in boys names, therefore I don’t see as many new options.
I definitely prefer thinking about boys names. I have more favourites, and I feel more strongly about them then I do the girls. I try to find girls names that I like and I find that hard, but I have several boys names that I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] and many more that I could happily add to the short list
@carysmarie It’s nice to know I’m not alone, I guess there is more choice with girls names, I just can’t seem to be creative when thinking of boys names and it bugs me
@gr19 are you more of a stick with your original decision type of person? I admire your ability to not be swayed hehe
I definitely struggle with girls names more than boys names. I guess it’s because (if I even have kids), I’ve always imagined them to be boys, so I guess it feels more real? Also, my taste in boys names is pretty strict. I like vintage, quite British, “old-man” names mostly - some are tame, and some are more over the top, but all have that same feel. However, with girls names I struggle. For example, I love [name_f]Helena[/name_f] nn [name_f]Nell[/name_f] and [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] nn [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]; however, I don’t like to use the same starting letter (dunno why, it just bugs me!), so I constantly go back and forth about whether to have both full names on my list, or just [name_f]Nell[/name_f] and [name_f]Hattie[/name_f], but then they feel too short compared to my other favourites like [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] and [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]… and also I have nickname-names that I don’t like any full names for like [name_f]Tess[/name_f], but again it feels too short… ugh!
So, yeah, girls names frustrate me a lot, and my girls list is constantly changing, whilst my boys list stays pretty static (middles change around, but the first names have been the same for quite a while now).
I go through huge phases. At the moment, I’m happy with my girls and desperately searching for boys, but it changes all the time!
