Our baby is due in [name]August[/name] and I am really having trouble finding girl’s names I really love. I have asked about a few names on here and am just trying to get a ‘final’ list together. My daughter’s name is [name]Iris[/name] [name]Ophelia[/name] and my stepson is [name]Orrin[/name], we are [name]Sorrel[/name] & [name]Oscar[/name]. We are set on [name]Peregrine[/name] [name]Morrissey[/name] “[name]Penn[/name]” for a boy. Surname is Forman.
I think ultimately I would love a longer unusual first name with a a cute nn and simpler middle, but that being said with [name]Iris[/name] we did the opposite …I just met a little [name]Arianwen[/name] at a birthday party the other day and I just loved the unusualness and long sound and I really want that ‘Wow what a beautiful name!’ reaction like we got with [name]Iris[/name]’ name for this one if it is a girl…
First Names:
[name]Arrietty[/name] - love the Borrowers literary connection, unusualness, nn [name]Etty[/name]/[name]Etta[/name] ( also lit ref from Big [name]Stone[/name] Gap Trilogy)
[name]Violet/name - I love this and the nn [name]Etty[/name]/[name]Etta[/name], but the flower theme feels a bit forced and and I don’t really like the [name]Charlie[/name] & the Chocolate Factory ref. or violent/violate similarities
[name]Artemis[/name] - love the mythology connection to big sister [name]Iris[/name], nns [name]Missy[/name] or [name]Artie[/name] and rareness, just don’t want people to think she’s a boy or call her Artyfarty
[name]Aurelia[/name] - Like the sound and rareness but it just doesn’t have a symbolic or personal meaning to me like some of the others same, and no nns we like
[name]Ada[/name] - [name]Love[/name] this but feels too short, nickname for something maybe but don’t like any usual [name]Ad[/name] - names… Would like to find a longer unusual name with cute nickname preferably, or have a longer interesting middle minimum
[name]Maeve[/name] - Ditto above but growing on me
[name]Guinevere[/name] - like the [name]King[/name] [name]Arthur[/name] connection (my sister’s mn is Ygraine) and the meaning, and that she could go by [name]Gwen[/name], [name]Neve[/name], [name]Eve[/name] and [name]Vera[/name] but have a more unusual full name
Thanks isabellemarie! I particularly like your suggestion of [name]Violetta[/name] [name]Eve[/name] I hadn’t put those two together myself but it is lovely!
[name]Iris[/name] [name]Ophelia[/name] is so cute!
My favorite off your list is [name]Arrietty[/name]! I find it really cute, pretty, and whimsical. I also love [name]Violetta[/name]! I think both would fit well with [name]Iris[/name] & [name]Orrin[/name]. I agree, [name]Violetta[/name] [name]Eve[/name] is beautiful! What about [name]Arrietty[/name] [name]Fleur[/name]?
Two clear stand outs to me are [name]Artemis[/name] (love missy and artie) and [name]Arrietty[/name] (etty)… With [name]Peregrine[/name] I love [name]Arrietty[/name] more!
I like
[name]Arrietty[/name] [name]Artemis[/name] a lot actually and also
[name]Arrietty[/name] [name]Fern[/name]
[name]Arrietty[/name] [name]Seraphine[/name]
[name]Arrietty[/name] [name]Sage[/name] (u sure you can’t use [name]Sage[/name] in the middle… This is adorable!!)
With [name]Artemis[/name] I love [name]Artemis[/name] [name]Violet/name
I also love [name]Artemis[/name], and I don;t think there will be too much confusion as to her gender, I second [name]Artemis[/name] [name]Violet[/name] (personally I think [name]Violetta[/name] sounds much more “violent/violate” than [name]Violet[/name])
I still love [name]Seraphine[/name], though. [name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Seraphine[/name] would be elegant and stunning, I think. And I love the arthurian reference with your sister
I have a baby called [name]Maple[/name] [name]Violet[/name] and my list is super similar to yours (sage, iris and hazel are very probable
for my next baby!). So thought I would share!
[name]Wren[/name]
[name]Marisol[/name]
[name]Cecily[/name]
[name]Felicity[/name]
[name]Daphne[/name]
[name]Florence[/name]/[name]Flora[/name]
[name]Ivy[/name]
[name]Clover[/name] (maybe too dairy cow, but I secretly love it)
Since you like [name]Ada[/name], what about [name]Adeline[/name]? I like both [name]Ada[/name] and Arriety, just offering more ideas!
I like [name]Aurelia[/name] [name]Eve[/name]. It’s so pretty! Plus, you could call her [name]Lia[/name] for short. [name]Artemis[/name] screams boy for me, and the rest just don’t do anything for me. [name]Aurelia[/name] is my favorite.
I really like [name]Artemisia[/name] and [name]Artemis[/name], and hopefully most people are aware that SHE was a goddess, so they won’t assume it’s a boy. I also really like [name]Guinevere[/name] and [name]Violet[/name] with [name]Iris[/name]. I think [name]Violet[/name] is best just because I noticed all your names are 2 syllables and contain an O, while both [name]Iris[/name] and [name]Orrin[/name] have the same pronunciation of their I’s.
I also like the suggestions of [name]Marisol[/name], [name]Clover[/name] and [name]Felicity[/name]. I’d also throw out [name]Prosper[/name] as another boy idea.
