I am 40 weeks now and based on previous history I still have a small window before we need a name…It is getting down to the wire though and I don’t want to file the BC/SS myself again because we couldn’t decide.
No matter the gender the name is still hard for me, but hands down the girl names just are a struggle to find that right feel…
We went from almost 50 names that kinda jumped out at me/fit to 20…need more narrowing…
Please help me with sounds, fit, etc… If there is a name out there that I missed and would be perfect for us, don’t be shy–tick tock… I need this to be no more than 12 or less to choose from for first and middle to feel sane (really would be amazed if I could actually narrow down to a couple).
Here are the ones that hubby sat down and said could stay on the list:
[name_f]Tova/name_f
[name_f]Eliorah[/name_f]/Elorah
[name_u]Damaris[/name_u]
[name_f]Halina/name_f

[name_f]Nevara[/name_f] (hubby says yes, I say no)
[name_u]Wynn[/name_u] (I say yes-middle, hubby says no)
Here are the ones that didn’t make the cut/fit:
[name_f]Raziah[/name_f]
[name_f]Rebekah[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Aletheia[/name_f] (really like, but feel it is a mouth full)

Zemira
[name_f]Solana[/name_f]
[name_f]Yadira[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarina[/name_f]

[name_f]Senalda[/name_f]
Kitra
[name_f]Keziah[/name_f]
Elleos
[name_f]Sabine[/name_f]
[name_f]Leandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Hadassah[/name_f]
[name_f]Clover[/name_f]
Rahab
[name_f]Ruth[/name_f] (still trying to keep it as a one syllable option for a longer name)
Breathe. You’ll be fine. All your children have gorgeous names, don’t freak out, I’m sure this baby won’t be any different.
From your list I really like [name_f]Tovah[/name_f], [name_f]Eliorah[/name_f], [name_u]Damaris[/name_u], [name_f]Tirzah[/name_f], [name_f]Naomi[/name_f], and [name_f]Miriam[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Tirzah[/name_f] more in the middle though, but that’s just me. I actually have [name_f]Amaria[/name_f] [name_f]Tirzah[/name_f] on my list but dh likes to shoot down everything. Sigh. Anyways back to your dilemma.
Here are a few suggestions-
[name_f]Rivka[/name_f]
[name_f]Eila[/name_f]
[name_u]Keeva[/name_u]
Hosannah
[name_f]Johanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Kerensa[/name_f]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_f]Havilah[/name_f]
[name_f]Mireya[/name_f]
[name_f]Moriah[/name_f]
[name_f]Magdalene[/name_f]
[name_f]Moira[/name_f]
[name_f]Sapphira[/name_f]
[name_f]Solina[/name_f]
Solara
Solmayra
[name_f]Soleil[/name_f]
I really like every name on your list except [name_f]Bethia[/name_f], and Rhema-[name_f]Verity[/name_f].
I don’t know why but I got auto corrected to [name_f]Samaria[/name_f] just a moment ago, and thought that was cute. And your penname seems sort of Spanish to me how about [name_f]Nayeli[/name_f] or [name_f]Yaretzi[/name_f] as a middle those are my favorites.
Random suggestions-
[name_f]Mireille[/name_f]
Belphoebe
[name_f]Sabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Norina[/name_f]
[name_f]Davina[/name_f]
[name_f]Keturah[/name_f]
[name_f]Adira[/name_f]
[name_f]Elspeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] some of these inspire you. And congratulations (:
I think [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] fits perfectly. Ending in -ah again would be a bit too much considering the names for your other children, and besides [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] is just beautiful. I’d go for it. For a middle… [name_f]Tova/name_f.
I love [name_f]Verity[/name_f] [name_m]Lael[/name_m]! [name_u]Love[/name_u] how all your girl names would end differently, then, yet they’re all beautiful. [name_f]Verity[/name_f] I like because it’s recognizable, pronounceable, sweet, energetic, and fun to say. [name_f]Verity[/name_f] [name_m]Lael[/name_m] is five syllables and so pretty.
My other favorite is [name_f]Tova[/name_f] [name_f]Miriam[/name_f]. I just love the name [name_f]Tova[/name_f], it’s so unusual and graceful yet strong. And [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] makes it five syllables and adds to its strength, I think.
Backup choices might be: [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] [name_f]Clover[/name_f] (she would be your fourth girl, right? That is a lucky name for a fourth girl! Also, I know of a little girl named [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] called [name_f]Nomi[/name_f] and that seems so spunky and sweet and adventurous!)
[name_f]Eliorah[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] - this just seems pretty to me.
I like [name_f]Miriam[/name_f], [name_f]Verity[/name_f], Elorah & [name_f]Eliorah[/name_f], [name_f]Naomi[/name_f], [name_f]Tova[/name_f], [name_u]Damaris[/name_u] and Xara.
I actually love almost all of the names I listed from your collection.
Thank you! This was a huge help…being able to see if they are actually good names or just something that looked okay in print. Having the feedback (without emotional involvement) and getting others combinations is great. I feel better about a few of the names and combos. [name_m]Will[/name_m] mull over a bit more and let a few be said aloud over the next few days. [name_m]Will[/name_m] update when the time comes if we have a girl…thinking I might do the same thing on the boys name forum…
Instead of [name_f]Eliora[/name_f] what about just [name_f]Liora[/name_f]? It’s on my short list and I really love it. I think [name_f]Eliora[/name_f] is beautiful but it’s close to my daughters name ([name_f]Elodie[/name_f]) and it sounds a tad too sweet to me. [name_f]Liora[/name_f] is classic sounding and I think translate through all ages of life.
Yes, [name_f]Eliorah[/name_f] has options-Elorah or Liorah. I lean toward Liorah if we are going in that direction. I really like [name_f]Eliorah[/name_f], but it is a full name and would come on the heels of my other long named child [name_m]Nehemiah[/name_m].
[name_f]Tova/name_f - you already have 5 names ending in “ah”. I would really avoid using any more.
[name_f]Eliorah[/name_f]/Elorah - has the same beginning as [name_m]Elijah[/name_m], plus the “ah” ending, so it shouldn’t be used.
[name_u]Damaris[/name_u] - lovely!
[name_f]Halina/name_f
[name_f]Bethia[/name_f]
[name_f]Tirzah[/name_f]
Tiverah
[name_f]Hava[/name_f]
Meira(h)
[name_f]Naomi[/name_f] - you already have 4 names with “eye” sounds! But they all belong to the boys so this might be a nice tie-in.
[name_f]Dinah[/name_f] - same as above, plus the “ah”.
Xara -
Rhema - I really like this, despit the ‘a’ ending!
[name_m]Lael[/name_m] - flows well with all the vowel sounds in your children’s names
[name_f]Dasia[/name_f] - this is beautiful, despite the ‘a’ ending
Onah - it will be confused with [name_f]Oona[/name_f]. I had to read it numerous times.
[name_f]Verity[/name_f] - this is a word name that I don’t think fits
[name_f]Miriam[/name_f] - wonderful
[name_f]Nevara[/name_f] (hubby says yes, I say no) - this is pretty, I’d use it as a middle.
[name_u]Wynn[/name_u] (I say yes-middle, hubby says no) - it doesn’t fit, imo.
From this list I would use:
[name_m]Lael[/name_m]
[name_u]Damaris[/name_u]
[name_f]Miriam[/name_f]
Backups would be:
[name_f]Dinah[/name_f]
[name_f]Dasia[/name_f]
[name_f]Naomi[/name_f]
Rhema
Suggestions (though I think [name_m]Lael[/name_m] and [name_u]Damaris[/name_u] really can’t be beat):
I’d eliminate [name_f]Eliorah[/name_f]/Elorah and [name_f]Nevara[/name_f] based on their similarities to [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] and [name_m]Nehemiah[/name_m].
Wow, what a beautiful naming style. You have so many names that I think are great. I’d also add [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f]/[name_f]Rivka[/name_f]. I think [name_m]Lael[/name_m] would be the best middle name since you have so many others that end in “a” that you can’t really pair them together without rhyming.
Here are my favorites…
[name_f]Miriam[/name_f] [name_m]Lael[/name_m] <- Miriam is one of my FAVORITE names!
Xara Lael (I’d probably spell Zara)
Tiverah Lael
[name_f]Miriam[/name_f], [name_f]Tovah[/name_f], [name_f]Naomi[/name_f], and [name_f]Eliorah[/name_f] are absolutely perfect. They represent a clear style, fit well together (in case you return to this list for future daughters), and are all strong, gorgeous names.
