[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! I’ve never posted on anything like this before. We’re having trouble thinking of a good name for a second child. Our first child’s name is [name_m]Drake[/name_m], my maiden name. His middle name, [name_m]Daniel[/name_m], honors a family member who passed away. His name was so easy and perfect it is hard to think of a second that is as perfect.
Our last name is similar to [name_f]Tinsley[/name_f]. My husband’s heritage is Dutch, English, and Scottish. Mine is English, [name_m]German[/name_m], Welsh.
For a boy we both like [name_m]Miles[/name_m], and maybe [name_u]Finn[/name_u]. We are mostly conflicted on girl names.
My hubby’s favorites:
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
both like:
[name_f]Norah[/name_f]
[name_f]Aveline[/name_f]
both maybe like:
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], [name_f]Isla[/name_f], [name_f]Adele[/name_f], [name_f]Corina[/name_f], [name_u]Wren[/name_u], [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
my favorites:
[name_f]Eileen[/name_f] or [name_f]Elena[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwenyth[/name_f] or [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] (hubby doesn’t like)
[name_f]Laurel[/name_f] or [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]
[name_f]Honor[/name_f] names/probable middle names:
[name_f]Marjorie[/name_f], [name_f]Marge[/name_f], [name_f]Anne[/name_f], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] or [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
Klein
[name_m]John[/name_m] or [name_m]Johannes[/name_m] or Eeren
Other family names we could honor:
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Linda[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_m]Charles[/name_m]
[name_u]James[/name_u]
I would suggest you post this in the girl baby names forum, not the baby names one, But I’ll give you my opinion anyway.
From looking at your husband’s list, it seems he likes recognizable, easy to pronounce, ends in ee sound names.
From yours, I’d say you like something a lot more unexpected, 2-3 syllables, recognizable but more uncommon than your husband’s taste.
You say you both like [name_f]Norah[/name_f] and [name_f]Aveline[/name_f], so I’d start there. What do you like about the names? I can see how [name_f]Aveline[/name_f] fits in your list, but [name_f]Norah[/name_f] seems odd - it’s the only name on both lists that is pretty popular and ends in A. But then, when I look at your longer maybe like list, there are lots of names that end in A.
I recommend you use Namehunter - put in different combinations of names from the above lists until you find a bunch of names that you and your husband BOTH really [name_u]LOVE[/name_u]. Then, once you’ve got a list, you can start narrowing it down.
Some names I can suggest:
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Cecily[/name_f]
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Esme[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f]
[name_f]Elowen[/name_f]
[name_f]Coraline[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_u]Riley[/name_u]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f]
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!
P.s. I think [name_f]Aveline[/name_f] is a beautiful name!
Thank you! I do like [name_f]Celia[/name_f] and [name_f]Coraline[/name_f]. I like some of the other names you suggested but I already know my husband won’t. He likes names that aren’t too popular, but not unfamiliar. We will keep thinking. Thank you!
Out of the names you both like, I love these:
[name_f]Norah[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_f]Adele[/name_f]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is one of my favorite names ever. It goes with a lot of your other names too…[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Laurel[/name_f]. Good luck
I think you have many many options to start. I agree that the name hunter is a good place to look and then play around with combos. And keep posting! People love helping! Good luck!
