Okay so I call this a challenge because it’s been soo difficult for us to find a name we both like enough to use.
I prefer unique/rare names but hubby is more traditional. Think Anaerys vs [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]
He says he doesn’t mind unique names but prefers more ‘familiar unique’ names than ‘rare unique’
He’s also [name_u]French[/name_u] so a lot of names just sound completely different in [name_f]English[/name_f] vs [name_u]French[/name_u] and just don’t work.
His picks:
[name_f]Apolline[/name_f]
Émeline
[name_f]Mila[/name_f] (mee-la)
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f]
[name_f]Chloé[/name_f] (Chlo-AY in french vs Chlo-E in English)
[name_f]Célia[/name_f]
[name_f]Théa[/name_f]
[name_f]My[/name_f] picks:
Anaerys
Anadey (ahn-na-day)
Azélie (a rare french girl name, he doesn’t dislike it)
Cloélie
Calithea
[name_f]Callaia[/name_f] (cal-AYE-a)
Maeva/Maëva - he’s considering it !!
[name_f]Mazarine[/name_f] (another rare [name_u]French[/name_u] girl name, nn Maze, [name_f]Mazey[/name_f] or Zari)
Zoëlia
The two names we could both potentially use are Maeva/Maëva and Chloe/Chloé but…
Both are pronounced differently, May-va vs Mye-va and Chlo-AY vs Chlo-E.
Also, Chloe/Chloé is a name I always adored but it still bugs me how popular this name is nowadays. The only reason I am considering it is because out of all the names, this name flows the best with our twin boys names, Loïc and Cédric.
We’d just appreciate your input and any other suggestions you may have for us !
I like [name_f]Apolline[/name_f] from your husband’s list and Azélie and [name_f]Mazarine[/name_f] from your list. I don’t have any to suggest but I think rare [name_u]French[/name_u] names are the sweet spot for you both. Good luck!
Hmm, I think [name_f]Apolline[/name_f] bridges the gap between both of your styles. It’s rare, unique and familiar at the same time. From your list, I love [name_f]Mazarine[/name_f] and Cloélie (adore the mythology behind it).
@Sylsyn
I love [name_f]Mazarine[/name_f]. You should call her [name_f]Mazey[/name_f] for sure!!! I also thought of
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] (nickname Sylvie)
[name_u]Romilly[/name_u] (Romi)
[name_f]Belle[/name_f]
[name_f]Arielle[/name_f] (Ari)
[name_f]Gabriella[/name_f]
[name_f]Darcie[/name_f]
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f] (might sound a little to much like dolphin. [name_m]Just[/name_m] my opinion)
[name_u]Paris[/name_u]
Good luck!!!
Thanks !! Hubby just mentioned the name [name_f]Maëlys[/name_f] ! I think I still prefer Maëva over it but quite nice. I actually really like [name_f]Anaïs[/name_f] but not a fan of the [name_u]French[/name_u] pronunciation thanks for the suggestions!!
I wish hubby wld go for [name_f]Mazarine[/name_f], I [name_u]Love[/name_u] this name ! And I love the nickname Maze or [name_f]Mazey[/name_f] !!
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] was actually on our list but for some reason we removed it. [name_f]May[/name_f] have to consider this one again, it’s quite cute !
[name_f]My[/name_f] hubby mentioned [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] and I immediately said, uh, Dolphin? Lol . I prefer [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], but that name is about to become VERY popular (Bridgerton fans anyone?)
We’re in the same situation and already have a [name_f]Juliette[/name_f]. This time we’re going for [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]. There’s a slight difference between the prononciations on either side. The important thing to me is that neither side butchers the only correct way. Like [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] is Daph-nee or Daph-nay. Neither are wrong, just different.
[name_f]Chloé[/name_f] is a great name and she’d get used to the two variations. Whereas I’m a [name_f]Lily[/name_f] in [name_f]France[/name_f] and to my ear they mispronounce my name.
Other suggestions, [name_f]Morgane[/name_f] and [name_f]Viviane[/name_f]!
[name_f]Inez[/name_f] is cute, along with
[name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_f]Lena[/name_f]
[name_f]Bree[/name_f]
[name_u]Ocean[/name_u]
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliette[/name_f]
[name_f]Maribel[/name_f]
