girl name crossroad! please help!

Hello, fellow parents/expecting parents!

I need a little help deciding on a name for my first daughter but the fourth child of the family! my husband and I have agreed on five different names and he has said i can make the final choice on which one because he got the boys he has always wanted and i’ve always wanted a little girl!

The name we both want to fit in with the flow of our boys so it doesn’t sound odd when they’re all together, our boys are.

[name_m]Adam[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] (10)
[name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_u]Mayson[/name_u] (6)
[name_u]Michael[/name_u] [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] (4)

it was a lot easier naming our boys then it seems naming our little girl who will be with us in roughly a month and a half! The names we have agreed on that I get to pick from are.

[name_f]Luisa[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Annelie[/name_f] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u]
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_u]Skye[/name_u]
[name_u]Ashley[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f]Amalyn[/name_f]

I’m not a huge fan of the harsh sounding tone of [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] but is the female version of [name_m]Victor[/name_m] which is what we agreed on if it was a boy, tried to soften the sound of it with [name_u]Skye[/name_u] as a middle name and my hubby loves it but he has allowed me to have the final say and even though we have agreed on the five names above, we are willing to be open for suggestions since, my mothers theory is that none of them are the right names because we’re up in the air about all of them and with the boys the names were picked within a fortnight of knowing their gender, perhaps she is right or perhaps I’m still finding it hard to believe it’s finally a girl after three beautiful baby boys!

Thank you for your help! it is much appreciated!:)

You have strong, lovely boys names and your girl name choices are quite nice, although I would ditch [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] as it was trendy in the 1980’s and seems dated now.

[name_f]Luisa[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] (spelled instead of [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]) has a Spanish flair to it if that’s what you’re going for.

[name_f]Annelie[/name_f] seems incomplete, but [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] would be divine. [name_m]Adam[/name_m], [name_m]Samuel[/name_m], [name_u]Michael[/name_u] & [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]…so so gorgeous together!

[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] is a timeless classic, like your sons, but became uber-popular in the 1980’s-1990’s, so I associate it with that generation. Not a fan of [name_u]Skye[/name_u], though.

[name_f]Petra[/name_f] is gorgeous. [name_f]Amalyn[/name_f] looks like a made-up name, and it reminds me of sodium amytal, a barbituate hypnotic used in anesthesia and as a “truth serum” in the early 20th century!

I feel like [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] would fit best with her brothers in terms of style. However, style coherence isn’t the end of all and you don’t sound too convinced about this name. I also like [name_f]Petra[/name_f] and [name_f]Luisa[/name_f] from your other options and I don’t think they sound weird or bad with your boys at all! They’re classics in their own right, just much more underused.

[name_f]Luisa[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]- classic, timeless, beautiful and it flows well together
[name_f]Annelie[/name_f] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u]- I agree with PP it looks incomplete but [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] would be beautiful
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_u]Skye[/name_u]- I like it and it sounds good with your boys
[name_u]Ashley[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]- very 90s
[name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f]Amalyn[/name_f]- I dont think this one goes quite as well with your boys

[name_m]Adam[/name_m], [name_m]Samuel[/name_m], [name_u]Michael[/name_u] and
[name_f]Laurel[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]
[name_f]Sabrina[/name_f]
[name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f]
[name_f]Valerie[/name_f]
[name_f]Jillian[/name_f]
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u]
[name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Margery[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]

[name_f]Petra[/name_f] is by far my favorite! She’s absolutely gorgeous. :stuck_out_tongue: Perhaps you could use [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] as a middle? I am in total agreement that it feels quite harsh to me, and I don’t find any of its nicknames terribly appealing ([name_f]Vicky[/name_f], [name_f]Tori[/name_f], [name_u]Rory[/name_u], [name_f]Ria[/name_f], [name_f]Via[/name_f], [name_f]Tia[/name_f], Vix? eh…), but it’s such a classic name and I think it does work well as a middle. I think [name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] is especially lovely, but [name_f]Luisa[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] and [name_f]Annelie[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] is also lovely!

I would also love to see [name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f]Annelie[/name_f], [name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], or even something a bit flowery as a middle for [name_f]Petra[/name_f], like [name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] or [name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f]Amalia[/name_f], or even something sweet, like [name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_u]Haven[/name_u] or [name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] or [name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f]?

[name_f]Annelie[/name_f] is probably my second favorite, although I admit to preferring the Finnish spelling, [name_f]Anneli[/name_f].

I like my own name well enough, and surprisingly, I plan to change my name to [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] (or maybe [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]) if I ever marry, as it was my grandmother’s middle name and I always wanted a family name, but it’s oddly not my favorite with your little boys? I like the idea of [name_f]Petra[/name_f], [name_f]Annelie[/name_f], or even [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] more than [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] with [name_m]Adam[/name_m], [name_m]Samuel[/name_m], and [name_u]Michael[/name_u].

[name_f]Luisa[/name_f] is super lovely, but I admit to preferring [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], [name_f]Luella[/name_f], or even [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], unfortunately. [name_f]Luisa[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is simple and straightforward, though, and I love that about it!

I hope this was helpful! Good luck!

[name_f]Luisa[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is beaitiful and i think goes best with your boys. I also love the name [name_m]Peter[/name_m]!! Admittedly, I don’t think it pairs particularly well with your son’s names… that wouldn’t stop me but you said it was important to you.
[name_m]How[/name_m] about[name_f]Jane[/name_f] as a first name?? That’s go perfect with your boys! [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Luisa[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Petra[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Ashley[/name_u]?
Or maybe [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]? [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]? [name_f]Anna[/name_f]?
Good luck.

[name_f]Luisa[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is my favorite of your options. Gorgeous!

It’s out of 3 on your list for me: [name_f]Luisa[/name_f], [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] or [name_f]Petra[/name_f]. I’d cross [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] off as its too dated, a unisex name for a girl after 3 boys, and not a strong traditional name like your boys. [name_f]Annelie[/name_f] feels a bit made up or incomplete, though [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] would be lovely.

I prefer [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] spelling unless you have a particular reason for the Spanish version, and love it with [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and with the boys’ names.
I love [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] and [name_u]Skye[/name_u] and love them together. I don’t see it as harsh, but strong.
I also like [name_f]Petra[/name_f], love that it’s not often used but easy to spell and pronounce, like it with your boys’ names. I don’t like [name_f]Amalyn[/name_f] though - a bit of a non-name. [name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_u]Skye[/name_u], [name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]?

[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_u]Skye[/name_u] seems the most fit worthy with your other kids.

[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_u]Skye[/name_u] is my favorite from your list, but I love the previous suggestion of [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f].
I would drop the [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] unless it’s a family name, but [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Petra[/name_f] or [name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] and both lovely!

[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] and [name_f]Petra[/name_f] are my favorites! Not a fan of [name_f]Amalyn[/name_f], though - I’d probably pair [name_f]Petra[/name_f] with something like [name_f]Annelie[/name_f]/[name_f]Annalise[/name_f], [name_f]Amalia[/name_f], [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], or [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f].

Other suggestions:

[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Eva[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Adele[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f]
[name_f]Marina[/name_f]
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]/[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]

Thank you guys so much for replying! it has helped quite a bit to take out a few of the choices and Narrow it down to two firsts!

[name_f]Petra[/name_f] - I like the idea that it is unique but easy as well as strong but also soft
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] - I do like it a bit more than [name_f]Annelie[/name_f] and the softness and more feminine tone to it

I did try combining them both to have one as a middle and one as a first but it didn’t sound right to me and my hubby isn’t a fan of combining those two together as well, he is happy with either one just not together! men!

I have taken a few of your suggestions for some middle names for both that I like!

[name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u]
[name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]

OR

[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_u]Skye[/name_u]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]-[name_f]May[/name_f]

Seeing it written down in black and white, I am leaning a little more towards [name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] and [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]/[name_f]Lucia[/name_f]-[name_f]May[/name_f]. But I would like some opinions on it. I’m doing my best not to stress but I can’t help it!

Again thank you, ladies, so much! I appreciate all your help!:)

I actually quite like [name_u]Ashley[/name_u]! I agree it is dated but does that really matter if you love the name. (I put [name_f]Amy[/name_f] and [name_f]Michelle[/name_f] in the same category)
I also like [name_f]Luisa[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] with your boys.
[name_f]Petra[/name_f] is very cool, different style to your boys names but you could balance it with a traditional middle. [name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f], [name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f], [name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f]

[name_m]Adam[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m]
[name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_u]Mayson[/name_u]
[name_u]Michael[/name_u] [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]
And
[name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]-[name_f]Rose[/name_f] :tulip:

Being the only girl, I feel like the double middle name would be a nice little touch for her. [name_f]Petra[/name_f] goes very nicely with your boys names and the fact that they’re all 2 syllables is quite pleasing when said all aloud .:slightly_smiling_face::two_hearts:

[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]!! [name_u]Love[/name_u] that name, and it’s great with the sibset. Both [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]-[name_f]May[/name_f] are amazing so I’d say it depends on what flows with your last name! I love [name_f]Rose[/name_f] as mn if you have a long ln or [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]-[name_f]May[/name_f] for a short ln. I could see that one being a mouthful.

A few other mn ideas, if you want:
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Camille[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]

[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] definitely fits with your boys’ names. I know a little [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] with a brother named [name_m]Adam[/name_m]. I would slightly prefer the middle name [name_f]Jane[/name_f] with [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], but pairing it with [name_u]Skye[/name_u] is unexpected a bit more unique.

I think [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] fits better with your sibset than [name_f]Petra[/name_f] and [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is GORGEOUS! [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]-[name_f]May[/name_f] is too long and a mouthful.

[name_f]Petra[/name_f] and [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] are both gorgeous. I like [name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] best of those combos. Other ideas:
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f]
[name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]
[name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f]Abigail[/name_f]
[name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f]Aveline[/name_f]
[name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f]Lillian[/name_f]

[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is my favorite out of all your ideas so far, I also like [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] although I prefer the flow of [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. I really prefer [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] to [name_f]Petra[/name_f] with your sibset.

I like [name_f]Petra[/name_f] and [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]! I think [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is a bit better than [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]-[name_f]May[/name_f] since [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] is already a “double” name.
