Because the last name [name]Blue[/name] is so distinctive, I do think that some of the concerns you have are valid. I voted for [name]Eloise[/name] [name]Britton[/name] [name]Blue[/name] because I think it sounds the best and is not subject to the issues raised. I don’t think anything too cute-sy or noun-oriented works. [name]Rowan[/name] would be second, but [name]Rowan[/name] [name]Britton[/name] has a little too many Ns for me, so [name]Esther[/name] gets second place.
I like [name]Harlow[/name] [name]Britton[/name] [name]Blue[/name] the best. [name]Stella[/name] is fine and I wouldn’t worry about the association you have. I do agree that [name]India[/name] [name]Blue[/name] sounds like a color but, that doesn’t make it a bad thing. All your names are lovely but this is how I rate them from what I think sounds the best with your middle/surname and what doesn’t seems to work as well.
I too voted for [name]Eloise[/name], for two reasons: 1) I think a three syllable name is best with [name]Britton[/name] [name]Blue[/name] (2-1); 2) as pp said, [name]Blue[/name] is very distinctive and strong, some think it should be paired with a serious, classic, romantic name like [name]Eloise[/name].
With an androgynous middle name like [name]Britton[/name], I’d go with a specifically feminine middle name - no [name]Harlow[/name] (which will become dated in 10 years, anyway), [name]Flannery[/name] or [name]Rowan[/name].
With a surname like [name]Blue[/name], I’d avoid descriptive words ([name]India[/name], [name]Rowan[/name]) or names that sound light and “sing-song-y” ([name]Lyra[/name], [name]Stella[/name], [name]Delaney[/name]). This eliminates [name]Raquel[/name] too - unless you are ready to deal with “[name]Rocky[/name]” [name]Blue[/name]. I think you need a really strong, “adult” sounding first name here.
[name]Blue[/name] really complicates things. At first, I thought it was such a great last name, but with the style of first names I like, it pushes a lot of them into the “trying too hard” / “too cool” category quickly.
I am trying to balance my style, a nice flow and pretty, fairly uncommon name without it going into it crazy-made up name territory. I appreciate all your thoughts!!
I voted for [name]India[/name] [name]Blue[/name] because I thought it had the best flow…and then I saw [name]Stella[/name]. I like [name]Stella[/name] [name]Blue[/name] even better but I’m not sure how to change my vote
I voted for [name]Lyra[/name], [name]Stella[/name], [name]Esther[/name], and [name]Flannery[/name].
[name]Love[/name] [name]Lyra[/name]!
Like [name]Stella[/name] and [name]Esther[/name]
I know a little [name]Flannery[/name] who’s the most amazing kid I’ve ever met!
