So I am in love with the name [name_f]Layla[/name_f] but it is just too popular right now. When I had my DS we named him a name that became so popular and I swore I would not do it again. I also have been stuck on the name [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f] but have been second guessing myself lately. I want it to be different (not common) but not too out there. Middle names I love are [name_u]Shea[/name_u]/[name_f]Hope[/name_f]/[name_f]Jade[/name_f] DS is [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] and we have a common, easy last name⌠Thank you for humoring me, people in my life are over the name conversation, lol.
Here is my list of first names list, favorites??
[name_f]Alina[/name_f]
[name_f]Alianna[/name_f] nn [name_u]Ali[/name_u]
[name_f]Anya[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliana[/name_f] nn [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] or [name_f]Elle[/name_f]
[name_u]Everly[/name_u]
[name_f]Enya[/name_f]
[name_f]Evelina[/name_f] nn [name_f]Evi[/name_f]
[name_f]Halia[/name_f]
Kailani nn [name_u]Kai[/name_u] or [name_u]Kyle[/name_u]
[name_f]Kyla[/name_f]
I love [name_f]Talia[/name_f]! Some of the others are hard to pronounce, like Solei and [name_f]Enya[/name_f], and others are a bit to trendy of my taste, like [name_f]Willow[/name_f] and [name_u]Everly[/name_u]. [name_f]Talia[/name_f] is the best by far!
[name_m]Just[/name_m] keep in mind that even if [name_f]Layla[/name_f] is very popular per the name rankings, it may not be popular in your area.
For instance, my daughterâs name is [name_f]Annika[/name_f] which is in the 400s in the SSA name rankings. BUT, because we live in an area with a large population with [name_m]German[/name_m]/Northern European heritage, I actually know FIVE little Annikas! Ahhh!
I know [name_f]Layla[/name_f] is a top 50 name in the name rankings, but I have 3 (working on the 4th!) kids ages 7 to 2 years and I know only one [name_f]Layla[/name_f].
I really like [name_f]Anya[/name_f], [name_f]Liliana[/name_f] and [name_f]Willow[/name_f] best from your list, but please donât call a daughter [name_m]Willy[/name_m]. Thatâs just asking for teasing!
Most of your other names are fine, just not really my style. I would avoid [name_f]Nahla[/name_f], though, because itâs pretty tied to the character in The [name_m]Lion[/name_m] [name_m]King[/name_m]. Is Solei meant to be [name_f]Soleil[/name_f], the [name_m]French[/name_m] word for sun? If you were to spell it that way I think people would find it more recognizable.
Also, Iâm so sorry if I offend, but I figured Iâd mention it: When I first read [name_f]Halia[/name_f] I immediately thought âhalitosisâ (the clinical term for bad breath). I donât know if others would see that but it may be something to consider. Sorry again.
From your list I choose
[name_f]Evelina[/name_f] [name_f]Soleil[/name_f]. Surprisingly I have never been into the name [name_f]Soleil[/name_f] but those names together just flow
My favourites from your list are [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] (lovely meaning), [name_f]Alina[/name_f], [name_u]Everly[/name_u] and [name_f]Willow[/name_f]. A better nickname for [name_f]Willow[/name_f] might be [name_f]Willa[/name_f] although theyâre the exact same number of syllables or 'Low.
I donât know how much the popularity thing is an issue for you, but while a lovely name, I think you need to be aware that while not in the Top 100 right now, [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] is very much an âon trendâ name.
After spending several years going into the Top 1000 and out again, between the mid-80s and mid-90s, it entered the Top 1000 again in 1996 (after dropping out of it in 1995, after four years in Top 1000) and has been climbing rapidly ever since.
When I first read you loved [name_f]Layla[/name_f], but were unsure, and then there is [name_f]Eliana[/name_f], but again you are unsure. I immediately thought of [name_f]Lela[/name_f]/[name_f]Leila[/name_f] (pronounced â[name_u]LEE[/name_u]-luhâ. [name_f]Lela[/name_f]/[name_f]Leila[/name_f] seems like a combination of [name_f]Layla[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliana[/name_f], maybe it solves your hesitations?
Other Thoughts:
[name_f]Anya[/name_f] and Eyna are interesting, and you would not have to fear the names becoming too popular anytime soon.
Have you considered [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]?
[name_f]Maya[/name_f] and [name_f]Talia[/name_f] could be good options, as well.
[name_m]Jackson[/name_m] and [name_f]Lela[/name_f]
[name_f]Lela[/name_f] [name_u]Shea[/name_u]
[name_f]Lela[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f]
(I do not think [name_f]Lela[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f] works as wellâŚ)
[name_m]Jackson[/name_m] and [name_f]Anya[/name_f]
[name_m]Jackson[/name_m] and [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]
[name_m]Jackson[/name_m] and [name_f]Maya[/name_f]
[name_m]Jackson[/name_m] and [name_f]Talia[/name_f].
I think, of these, my favorites are [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] and [name_f]Lela[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f], [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] and [name_f]Maya[/name_f] [name_u]Shea[/name_u], and [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] and [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f].
