Ok, I apologize in advance for the rambling. 6 months pregnant and can’t decide on our baby girl’s name. This is #4[name_f][/name_f] for us, 2nd girl. Sibset: [name_m]Jaxon[/name_m], [name_m]Everett[/name_m], and [name_f]Keeley[/name_f].
[name_f][/name_f]
Husband is dead set on [name_f]Brianna[/name_f]. Loves the nn Bri/Bree. I like the name, but it doesn’t feel like the right name for her. I do love the nn, I think it’s really cute, so I tried suggesting other names that could give the same nn (Sabrina, [name_f]Aubrey[/name_f], [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f], etc) but my husband isn’t a fan of them. But I recently came across the name [name_f]Bria[/name_f], and I’m kind of liking it. It feels like a cute fit compared to our sibset and it would still give my husband the nn he wants. But I’m curious thoughts on this name, does it feel unfinished? Am I overthinking it?
[name_f][/name_f]
We were wanting to use the middle name [name_f]Selene[/name_f], I’m not sure if [name_f]Bria[/name_f] [name_f]Selene[/name_f] works as well as other combos we’ve tried but I think it still does outside of BS being initials lol. Last name is one syllable, if that helps.
[name_f][/name_f]
Anyway! I’d love your thoughts on the name, but also any suggestions for first and/or middle you may have too!
I knew a [name_f]Bria[/name_f] (just Bria!) [name_f][/name_f]- I think it looks and feels fine [name_f][/name_f] no different to [name_f]Mia[/name_f], [name_f]Tia[/name_f], [name_f]Lia[/name_f], Kya…
[name_f][/name_f]
I think [name_f]Bria[/name_f] [name_f]Selene[/name_f] works [name_f][/name_f]- and since she’ll have her last initial to round them off, the initials aren’t too big a deal to me in this case.
[name_f][/name_f]
If you’re not loving the flow/look, or initials, you could try: [name_f]Bria[/name_f] [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f], [name_f]Bria[/name_f] [name_f]Helene[/name_f], [name_f]Bria[/name_f] [name_f]Delphine[/name_f], [name_f]Bria[/name_f] [name_f]Celeste[/name_f], [name_f]Bria[/name_f] Luelle, [name_f]Bria[/name_f] [name_f]Corinne[/name_f], [name_f]Bria[/name_f] [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], [name_f]Bria[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f], [name_f]Bria[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f], [name_f]Bria[/name_f] [name_f]Delaney[/name_f], [name_f]Bria[/name_f] [name_f]Naomi[/name_f], [name_f]Bria[/name_f] [name_f]Noemie[/name_f], [name_f]Bria[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f], [name_f]Bria[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Bria[/name_f] [name_f]Camille[/name_f], [name_f]Bria[/name_f] [name_f]Celine[/name_f]
Thank you! I think my head is constantly spinning trying to name this girl and I’ve found myself overthinking everything. I think one of the reasons I dislike [name_f]Brianna[/name_f] so much is because I feel like it would constantly be mispronounced. Plus I just don’t feel like it flows with our current sibset.
[name_f][/name_f]
Thank you for the suggestions. [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] is really pretty I haven’t considered that before. I love the name [name_f]Selene[/name_f] because I love the moon, as cliche as it sounds, and I love that it has a calming feeling to it as a name. [name_f]Bria[/name_f] [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] is actually one I suggested to my husband but he said it sounds like word soup, haha. And [name_f]Bria[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] would give us a family name, my grandmother’s, but she passed when I was only 6 and I really don’t remember her. Her and my dad didn’t have a great relationship so I didn’t spend much time with her.
I have a friend called Briar pronounced Bria. In US (rhotic accent) context, Bria the way to go. I like it and it has the same blend of old and new as your other names each have. Brianna isn’t tailored enough - Bria suits the other three a lot better. You could maybe do Brielle but I prefer Bria. I was going to suggest Bridget or Brigid but maybe not with Everett. I like that all four would have their own starting letter and ending sounds.
I like [name_f]Bria[/name_f], and I don’t think it feels unfinished at all! I wouldn’t worry about the initials – I’ve never seen anyone referred to with just their first and middle initials.
It is lovely! It made me think of [name_f]Bria[/name_f] [name_f]Diane[/name_f] or [name_f]Bria[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- [name_f]Diana[/name_f] being the [name_m]Roman[/name_m] goddess of the moon! And [name_f]Bria[/name_f] [name_f]Lusine[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- a moon-related meaning and a small nod to [name_f]Louise[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- but I do like [name_f]Bria[/name_f] [name_f]Selene[/name_f]
Thank you for the feedback! It makes me feel better and also realize maybe I’m just overthinking all this. I like the middle name suggestions, [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] and [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] are pretty! I’m so partial to the name [name_f]Selene[/name_f], so I find myself going back to that I just wanna make sure it sounds ok together.
[name_f][/name_f]
Question for you, how would you pronounce [name_f]Bria[/name_f]? I am wanting to make sure my assumption and the way I’m saying it is accurate to how others would read it.
I do love the name [name_f]Diana[/name_f]! [name_f]Diane[/name_f] would maybe flow well with [name_f]Bria[/name_f]! And I’ve never heard [name_f]Lusine[/name_f] before. Would you consider [name_f]Bria[/name_f] a name that wouldn’t be mispronounced often or do you think some may mispronounce. By assumption, I feel like it’s obvious, but I do also realize regional/location could play a factor.
Thank you for the feedback! I agree [name_f]Bria[/name_f] just seems to fit better with our sibset especially compared to [name_f]Brianna[/name_f]. [name_m]Reading[/name_m] your comparison to your friend [name_f]Briar[/name_f] and the pronunciation, I’m curious how you pronounce [name_f]Bria[/name_f]? I am wondering if this would be a name that would be mispronounced with how I’m personally reading it due to regions?
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f] is pretty but I agree it feels too similar to [name_m]Everett[/name_m]. I love the middle name suggestions especially [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]. [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is nice too, consider my husbands name is [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] haha, but that’s also one of my son’s middle names. I do like the idea of a longer middle name since first and last are shorter, I think I just haven’t found any I am in love with yet.
[name_f]Bria[/name_f] is nice, [name_f]Bria[/name_f] [name_f]Selene[/name_f] sounds good, and I don’t think BS first and middle initials will be a big deal so it gets a thumbs up from me.
Ok good!! I think [name_f]Briar[/name_f], being an American, my brain goes to Bry-er so when you said they are both said like [name_f]Bria[/name_f] I got nervous, haha. This makes me feel better [name_f][/name_f]- thank you for clarifying!
[name_f]Briar[/name_f] probably would/should get Bry-ah more than Bree-ah (in Oz), as per Friar, but for some reason my [name_f]Briar[/name_f] friend is Bree-uh.
[name_f][/name_f]
Anyway, you’re good with [name_f]Bria[/name_f]. I really like it!
