My husband and I are pregnant with our first child. I’m only about 9 weeks so its still very early and we have no clue of the gender yet. If this little sprout is a boy we have the name all picked out. My husband is a II and wants his son to be named after him so it would be the III. [name_u]Corny[/name_u] I know but its really important to him. We’ve been together 10 years and we’ve always said that would the name we would use so any other boy name just doesn’t seem right. [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Crawford[/name_m] is the first and middle name and I think I would call him “[name_m]Liam[/name_m]” or just “[name_m]William[/name_m]”. My husband goes by [name_m]Bill[/name_m] and hates his childhood nickname of [name_u]Billy[/name_u] so he doesn’t want his child to be called that either.
When it comes to girls names we are at a total loss. We hardly can decide on anything. He says he likes simple and traditional names. Any name I suggest he either says no or “its just okay”. Below are the only names we can somewhat agree on and I’m really not in love with any of them. Middle name will either be [name_f]Anne[/name_f] or [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f].
Good girl list; I really love [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] and they would all go well with [name_m]William[/name_m], should you have a boy after. (BTW, [name_m]William[/name_m] “[name_m]Liam[/name_m]” is adorable, and I love that you’re continuing a family tradition!)
Since you’ve got a boy’s name picked out (whether you have a boy first or not) I’d put emphasis on choosing a name that goes well with [name_m]Liam[/name_m] ([name_m]William[/name_m]). I think most of your names do - with the exceptions of [name_u]Hadley[/name_u], [name_f]Vera[/name_f], and [name_u]Kelsey[/name_u].
My favorites: [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f], and [name_f]Nora[/name_f].
Names I think are especially nice with [name_m]Liam[/name_m] (if that’s what he’ll go by): [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_f]Carly[/name_f], and [name_f]Sophia[/name_f].
Names that go well with [name_m]William[/name_m]: [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f], [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f].
I really like [name_m]William[/name_m] with the nn [name_m]Liam[/name_m].
My favorites to go with [name_m]William[/name_m] nn [name_m]Liam[/name_m]:
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f]
I also like the suggestions of [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], and [name_f]Stella[/name_f].
Thank you all for the suggestions! I love all the ideas you have. [name_u]Love[/name_u] to hear anyone else’s suggestions.
I wasn’t even thinking in terms of what girl names sound best with [name_m]William[/name_m]! Thanks for pointing out the importance of doing this to me.
From your list I like [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], [name_f]Carly[/name_f] and [name_f]Norah[/name_f]…the other names are far too popular. [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] sounds like a boy name to me.
From your list, I like [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] and [name_f]Alexandria[/name_f]. I’m not a fan of popular names (since I have one), so I tend to lean towards more unusual names.
[name_m]How[/name_m] about…
I think that [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] would go best with a brother named [name_m]William[/name_m].
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] nn [name_f]Nora[/name_f] would be very cute with [name_m]William[/name_m] nn [name_m]Liam[/name_m].
Yay! Congrats! Since you’re set on [name_m]William[/name_m]/[name_m]Liam[/name_m] (nice name by the way)…
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u] - doesn’t flow that well stylistically with [name_m]William[/name_m], in my opinion
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f] - pretty, very popular (not a bad thing though, my kids have popular names and I love them)
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] - would make a very nice sib set
[name_f]Norah[/name_f]/[name_f]Nora[/name_f] - very sweet, sounds great with [name_m]Liam[/name_m]
[name_u]Kelsey[/name_u] - doesn’t flow at all and seems dated in comparison to [name_m]William[/name_m]
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] - kinda a tongue twister with [name_m]Liam[/name_m] to me, but pretty name
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f] - same as [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]
[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]/[name_f]Alexandria[/name_f] - nice
[name_f]Carly[/name_f] - same as [name_u]Kelsey[/name_u]
What about [name_m]Wilkie[/name_m] as a cute nickname for [name_m]William[/name_m]? I like [name_m]Willem[/name_m] and [name_m]Will[/name_m] too.
Building on your list, some slight deviations that I prefer:
[name_f]Holly[/name_f]
[name_f]Sofia[/name_f]
[name_f]Letitia[/name_f] or [name_f]Leticia[/name_f]
[name_f]Nella[/name_f]
[name_f]Kerria[/name_f]
[name_f]Evadne[/name_f]
[name_f]Livia[/name_f]
[name_f]Alessandra[/name_f] or [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f]
Kymry
Well, I just love [name_f]Vera[/name_f], as is!
I think that [name_m]William[/name_m] is a versatile classic that goes with just nearly everything. And since you are a bit all over the place with the girl names, this is how I would go about solving this problem: consider what you would name ANOTHER boy. That way you can actually get a feel for your style.
Like this: if you would name another boy something similar to:
[name_m]Edward[/name_m] - old-school classics - pick [name_f]Vera[/name_f], [name_f]Alexandria[/name_f], [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]
[name_m]Andrew[/name_m] - familiar classics - pick [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_m]Bennett[/name_m] - trending modern - pick [name_u]Hadley[/name_u], [name_u]Kelsey[/name_u], [name_f]Carly[/name_f]
[name_u]Aidan[/name_u] or [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] - modern mega-hit - pick [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]
[name_m]Caspian[/name_m] - obscure unusual - [name_f]Alexandria[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_f]Vera[/name_f]
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps give you some direction. Congratulations on your pregnancy!
