I realized after some deliberation that I really love names that end in -son for both boys and girls. But the only girl names that end in -son that I can think of are [name_u]Addison[/name_u] and [name_u]Allison[/name_u]. I already have [name_u]Addison[/name_u], and [name_u]Allison[/name_u] is just not my style.
I know a girl named [name_m]Harrison[/name_m]. [name_u]Grayson[/name_u] could also be a girl’s name, though it’s more of a guy name. [name_u]Carson[/name_u] is a relatively gender-neutral name. [name_u]Madison[/name_u], and [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] are girl’s names (most of the time). I know a female [name_u]Mason[/name_u]. [name_u]Ellison[/name_u] also works, as does [name_m]Dawson[/name_m].
Besides [name_u]Addison[/name_u] and [name_f]Alison[/name_f], I have also known/met girls named [name_u]Madison[/name_u], [name_u]Emerson[/name_u], [name_u]Ellison[/name_u], [name_u]Mason[/name_u], and [name_u]Karson[/name_u]. I prefer most -son names for boys myself, but they are certainly used for girls. [name_u]Madison[/name_u] and [name_u]Emerson[/name_u], in particular, are very common girl names where I live.
You might like the [name_u]French[/name_u] [name_u]Louison[/name_u]? It’s unisex in [name_f]France[/name_f], and very cool there right now, but it’s been more popular for girls than boys since the mid 2000s. Currently at #300 for boys and #195 for girls.
All the ones I know have pretty much been covered, but just wanted to chip in that I’ve personally met/known people who knew girls named:
Alison
[name_u]Carson[/name_u]
[name_u]Madison[/name_u]
[name_u]Ellison[/name_u] (went by [name_f]Elli[/name_f])
[name_m]Tennyson[/name_m] (went by a very uncommon nickname I won’t list here for privacy)
On the other hand, the only [name_u]Addison[/name_u] I’ve known was very much a boy, same with [name_u]Mason[/name_u]. Though, I do think [name_u]Addison[/name_u] works well for a girl, as do [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] and [name_u]Crimson[/name_u]. In general, I do think -son names work better on boys.
Crimson
[name_u]Ellison[/name_u]
[name_u]Emerson[/name_u]
[name_u]Grayson[/name_u]
[name_u]Jameson[/name_u]
[name_u]Mason[/name_u]
[name_f]Season[/name_f] (a bit brave)
I’m not a huge fan of -son names for girls, but I think [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] nn [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] could be a natural sister to [name_u]Addison[/name_u]. I know an [name_u]Addison[/name_u] who has a little sister named [name_u]Allison[/name_u], so I think it could work but wouldn’t recommend it lol. [name_u]Grayson[/name_u] nn [name_f]Gracie[/name_f] could be nice too.
