Hey Name Berries. My husband and I are expecting number three this spring, we don’t know the gender but I figured we’d start with girl names. I’m a name nerd like many of you and I’m a sucker for a name with a great meaning, it just seals the deal for DH and I. We’re really open to a wide variety of names. We’re drawn to names from other cultures, international names and uncommon names. We have a five year old daughter named [name]Maeve[/name] [name]Magnolia[/name] (we picked [name]Maeve[/name] because it means “intoxicating” and I’m originally from [name]Louisiana[/name], and [name]Magnolia[/name] is the state flower). We also have a three year old son named [name]Bodhi[/name] [name]Jett[/name] ([name]Bodhi[/name] meanings “awakening” and my husband’s father was a [name]Pilot[/name] and in the [name]Air[/name] Force so [name]Jett[/name] seemed fitting). We love that their first names have great meanings and their middles have personal significance.
As for a name for this peanut we have a short list, but are looking for suggestions. We don’t need the name to “match” [name]Maeve[/name] and [name]Bodhi[/name], since both are different enough, but it should flow. Our last name is Broughton (BRAH-ton) and the middle name will be chosen once we pick the first name.
Our short list:
[name]Esme[/name] - getting a little too popular
[name]Maris[/name] - not sure we want another M name
[name]Jemima[/name] - I know this name gets mixed reactions (we’re in the US)
[name]Amadea[/name] - this is our favorite at the moment.
[name]Allegra[/name] - I’m kind of iffy on this but DH likes it a lot.
I look forward to hearing your suggestions/comments. Thanks so much!
I love your children’s names!
From your list, I love [name]Amadea[/name]. I think it sounds great with [name]Maeve[/name] and [name]Bodhi[/name], too. And [name]Amadea[/name] Broughton looks so stunning!
I agree that you may want to steer clear of [name]Esme[/name]. I don’t care much for how it sounds with [name]Maeve[/name] anyway. I like [name]Jemima[/name] a lot, although you will get mixed reactions (but you get that with any name, right? ) [name]Allegra[/name] is beautiful, I just can’t get past the allergy medicine on that one. [name]Maris[/name] is nice, but maybe a bit much with [name]Maeve[/name]. Have you considered [name]Carys[/name]? I love that name, and it sounds great with [name]Maeve[/name] and [name]Bodhi[/name].
I love [name]Maeve[/name] [name]Magnolia[/name], and I think [name]Bodhi[/name] [name]Jett[/name] is really cool!
Out of your list I think [name]Amadea[/name] is the best, but it feels a bit matchy with [name]Maeve[/name]. The rest of your list I’m not too fond of, sorry.
I also think it’s important for the mum and the dad to both love the name they gift their child with Unfortunately that means sometimes we have to compromise (I had to farewell [name]Elisabeth[/name] and [name]Miriam[/name] ) but it’s worth it in the end!
I will offer some suggestions to go with [name]Maeve[/name], [name]Bodhi[/name] and the last name Broughton.
[name]Naomi[/name] “pleasing”
[name]Adah[/name] “beautiful; adornment”
[name]Eirian[/name] “bright, beautiful”
[name]Anwen[/name] “very beautiful”

[name]Eowyn[/name] “horse joy”
Maiara “wise”
My favourites are [name]Anwen[/name] and [name]Ingrid[/name].
