Girl's Name List

So we’ve pretty much got our name figured out if she’s a girl (Mayna), but we wanna be completely sure about it, so we’re also making a list of possible back-ups in case another name sparks significant interest in us. As such, I’ve narrowed down our back-up list here to some of our top choices and would greatly appreciate some thoughts and feedback on some of these name options.

  • [name]Aiyana[/name]
  • [name]Amaryllis[/name]
  • [name]Aurelia[/name]
  • [name]Amara[/name]
  • [name]Celeste[/name]
  • [name]Aurora[/name]
  • [name]Aisha[/name]
  • [name]Solana[/name]
  • [name]Athena[/name]
  • [name]Tierney[/name]
  • [name]Neysa[/name]
  • [name]Seraphina[/name]
  • [name]Cerelia[/name]
  • Mayna : I usually love M names, but I don’t quite like this one - perhaps because it reminds me of [name]Maynard[/name]. Go for it if you have your heart set on it. [name]May[/name] is a great nn.
  • [name]Aiyana[/name] : Looks made up. too many vowels
  • [name]Amaryllis[/name] : kinda like the vintage feel of this one
  • [name]Aurelia[/name] : very pretty. more girly than your other choices
  • [name]Amara[/name] : my favorite from your list. [name]Love[/name] [name]Mara[/name] as a nn and full name as well.
  • [name]Celeste[/name] : like this one. [name]Cecily[/name] is nice too
  • [name]Aurora[/name] : another fave. [name]Rory[/name] is a great nn
  • [name]Aisha[/name] : not my style
  • [name]Solana[/name] : quite pretty. feels hispanic? very different style from Mayna
  • [name]Athena[/name] : love this one
  • [name]Tierney[/name] : nms
  • [name]Neysa[/name] : prefer [name]Naya[/name]
  • [name]Seraphina[/name] : very girly next to Mayna
  • [name]Cerelia[/name] : interesting choice I quite like

Good luck

I [name]LOVE[/name] Mayna! I actually have a friend with this name (but she spells it Maynah), I like both spellings a lot, but I think I slightly prefer it with the h probably because I’m more used to it that way though  I think it’s a great choice, very pretty and unique, but somehow sounds really familiar. I like a lot of your other choices too, but I definitely think you should stick with Mayna!

These are my favorites of your other names: [name]Amaryllis[/name], [name]Aurelia[/name], [name]Amara[/name], [name]Celeste[/name], [name]Aurora[/name], [name]Athena[/name]

I like these names - they’re feminine, sophisticated and have great depth and history.

[name]Aurelia[/name]
[name]Amara[/name]
[name]Celeste[/name]
[name]Aurora[/name]
[name]Athena[/name]
[name]Seraphina[/name]
[name]Cerelia[/name]

  • [name]Aiyana[/name]: I agree with pp, way too many vowels. Looks like you were trying to play name scrabble and these were the letters you were left with. (Sorry.)
  • [name]Amaryllis[/name]: Such a great flower name. and it feels so underused.
  • [name]Aurelia[/name]: [name]One[/name] of my very favorites. And probably top of my list after [name]Aurora[/name]'s relative rise to popularity.
  • [name]Amara[/name]: beautiful name.
  • [name]Celeste[/name]: very sophisticated and soft. great choice.
  • [name]Aurora[/name]: my old favorite see [name]Aurelia[/name].
  • [name]Aisha[/name]: nms.
  • [name]Solana[/name]: nms.
  • [name]Athena[/name]: It’s a little too linked to the goddess for me. I have a friend with this name and it doesn’t change the association much.
  • [name]Tierney[/name]: nms.
  • [name]Neysa[/name]:nms
  • [name]Seraphina[/name]: it’s on my list and some days I love it and sometimes I think it’s a bit too sacrine sweet for me. So it’s usually on the ehhh side.
  • [name]Cerelia[/name]: feels like a mix of [name]Celeste[/name] and [name]Aurelia[/name] to me.

I’m glad to hear there are some other people out there who have this name. We were thinking about spelling it with an ‘h’ at the end too, and that still is a possibility. I’m having trouble figuring out what the actual ‘original’ spelling is. In Chinese it would be Meina. But I’m a little worried that’d be mispronounced at Me-na. We’ve been leaning towards Mayna cuz it seems the most intuitive spelling and seems to be equally as common spelled that way as Maynah, Meynah, Meyna. But soon we’ll try with a bit more effort to figure out the original spelling.

I appreciate the feedback from everyone thus far!
