Girls Name Needed

[name]Hi[/name] all! I posted a while back about the names we were thinking about for our daughter. With your help we had it narrowed down to [name]Caroline[/name] ([name]Callie[/name]) and [name]Diana[/name] ([name]Dani[/name]) after a lot of thought and back and forth between the two, neither of them seemed right. It might be the hormones clouding my judgment but somehow I just feel there’s a better name we’re overlooking. Any and all help or advice would be appreciated!

[name]Just[/name] some background: My sons names are [name]Nathaniel[/name] [name]Hayes[/name] ([name]Nate[/name]) and [name]Tucker[/name] [name]James[/name]. We aren’t finding out the sex of the baby but if he’s a boy, he’ll be named [name]Wesley[/name] [name]Daniel[/name]. My husband and I are very picky and generally don’t see eye to eye on names. We’ve discovered a few names we can both agree on, but they each have hesitations-

[name]Lila[/name]- would she get lost with the popular [name]Lily[/name] and [name]Lillian[/name]?
[name]Josie[/name]- is it too nicknamey? Neither of us are crazy about [name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Blythe[/name]- too out there? or too hard to say?

what do you guys think? am I over thinking this? like I said- ANY advice would be so appreciated!

[name]Caroline[/name] nn [name]Callie[/name] - Timeless, elegant, lovely, with a nickname that she can wear well as a child and adult.
[name]Diana[/name] nn [name]Dani[/name] - Feels dated :frowning: I would assume she was 25+ years old.
[name]Lila[/name]- Sadly, yes, I think her name would feel less unique because of all the Lilys, Lillians, and Laylas. That for me personally is not enough to deter me from saying this is my favorite name on your list and the name I would choose if I were in your shoes.
[name]Josie[/name]- Sorry, yes it is too nicknamey.
[name]Blythe[/name]- [name]Lovely[/name]. For me, it’s not as feminine as [name]Caroline[/name] or [name]Lila[/name], which I think are your better options.

For you, I think your best options are:

  1. [name]Caroline[/name] nn [name]Callie[/name]
  2. [name]Lila[/name] (though it is my fave from your list, I think it will bother you that she will be surrounded by Lilys, Lillians, and Laylas)
  3. [name]Blythe[/name]

I like [name]Lila[/name] with [name]Nathaniel[/name] and [name]Tucker[/name]. I don’t think it’ll get lost. To me [name]Lila[/name] seems like a breath of fresh air compared to [name]Lily[/name] and [name]Lillian[/name]. [name]Lila[/name] seems like it just fits with your boys names [name]IMO[/name].

I don’t really think a [name]Lila[/name] would be lost. But I don’t really think [name]Lily[/name] or [name]Lillian[/name] would be either so we may just have different feels for this. If you’re worried, I’d keep looking.

[name]Josie[/name] is pretty nickname. It’s a very nice name but I think people will assume she’s a [name]Josephine[/name] a lot. It could work as a nickname for [name]Joan[/name], [name]Joanna[/name], or [name]Johanna[/name], or [name]Jocelyn[/name] if you like those. Especially with an S or C or Z middle name maybe.

[name]Blythe[/name] - I find [name]Blythe[/name] pretty out there and challenging, especially with your sons’ more straightforward names.

All of the names you like have either a long O or long I sound. With that in mind, a list of suggestions:

[name]Chloe[/name]
[name]Clementine[/name]
[name]Cleo[/name]
[name]Dinah[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name]
[name]Eliza[/name]
[name]Fiona[/name]
[name]Iona[/name]
[name]Ione[/name]
[name]Iris[/name]
[name]Isla[/name]
[name]Ivy[/name]
[name]Joanna[/name] (also shares some sound space with [name]Diana[/name])
[name]Johanna[/name] (see above)
[name]Lilac[/name]
[name]Leona[/name]
[name]Leonie[/name]
[name]Liza[/name]
[name]Lola[/name]
[name]Lois[/name]
[name]Myla[/name]
[name]Naomi[/name]
[name]Opal[/name]
[name]Ramona[/name]
[name]Rosa[/name]
[name]Rose[/name] (I also think a J name with [name]Rose[/name] as a middle name might make it to [name]Josie[/name] via [name]Rosie[/name]?)
[name]Rosalie[/name]
[name]Rowan[/name]
[name]Rowena[/name]
[name]Simone[/name]
[name]Sophie[/name]
[name]Valentine[/name]
[name]Viola[/name]
[name]Violet[/name]
[name]Zoe[/name]

I’m liking [name]Jo/nameanna [name]Simone[/name] nn [name]Josie[/name].

If you could find a full name for [name]Josie[/name], I think it would work perfectly. [name]Nate[/name], [name]Tucker[/name] and [name]Josie[/name] are absolutely perfect! Maybe [name]Johannah[/name] for a full name?

[name]Caroline[/name] nn [name]Callie[/name] is also perfect! It works well with your other children’s names, it has a cute nn, and it has a mature-sounding full name if she decides as an adult to use it.

I do like [name]Lila[/name], but if you are even just a tiny bit concerned about popularity(an the popularity of similar names) you should probably drop it. Maybe [name]Lola[/name], [name]Delilah[/name] or [name]Lucy[/name]?

[name]Blythe[/name] might be a bit much for a little girl. I also don’t see a [name]Blythe[/name] as a sibling for [name]Nate[/name] or [name]Tucker[/name]. [name]Diana[/name] seems way too dated.

My favorites are [name]Caroline[/name] and [name]Josie[/name](with a full name)! Good luck!

[name]Josie[/name] would be perfect! I don’t think it’s too nicknamey to stand alone as a first name, but here are some suggestions of names that could have [name]Josie[/name] as a nickname:
~ [name]Josette[/name]
~ [name]Josiane[/name]
~ [name]Jolene[/name]
~ [name]Josephina[/name]
~ [name]Josepha[/name]

As you can see, I think any name that begins with ‘[name]Jo[/name]’ could have the nickname [name]Josie[/name] (:
