Are Remedios or [name_f]Amaranta[/name_f] too out there for a girl name? From my favorite book. Could they work as middle names?
Remedios sounds very Spanish to my ear…& Autocorrect wants to spell it Remedies. It might pose spelling difficulties. [name_u]Remy[/name_u] could be a very cute nickname though.
[name_f]Amaranta[/name_f] sounds more like a traditional girl’s name…Autocorrect wants to spell it Amaranth, but at least for me the spelling & pronunciation of [name_f]Amaranta[/name_f] are more obvious & there’s less likely to be continual spelling difficulties. I’m not crazy about the word “rant” appearing in the middle of [name_f]Amaranta[/name_f], but that’s just me.
I do think Remedios is too out there, sorry. But [name_f]Amaranta[/name_f] I think you could use. It’d be safer in the middle, yes, but I definitely think you could put it in the first name spot.
[name_f]Amaranta[/name_f] also has plenty of potential nickname options- [name_f]Amy[/name_f], [name_f]Ama[/name_f], [name_f]Amara[/name_f], [name_f]Mara[/name_f], [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_u]Ara[/name_u], or [name_f]Annie[/name_f] are a few possibilities.
Remedios reminds me of remedial, [name_f]Amaranta[/name_f] I would use if it had meaning. It is also very flexible for shortenings and middle names. I think I quite like it.
Like others said, Remedios sounds too much like remedies. It also sounds like a surname to me, not like a first name. I love [name_f]Amaranta[/name_f]! Not too out there at all since it has familiar sounds. However, if you’re worried about that, what about [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] or Amaranth/[name_f]Amarantha[/name_f]?
Definitely see where everyone is coming from. Remedios actually does mean remedies in Spanish, but is inspired from a character in 100 Years of Solitude called “Remedios the Beauty.” Because of that it takes on a more magical and beautiful quality for me, although it might not seem that way for someone who isn’t familiar with the character. [name_f]Amaranta[/name_f] is also a character, and the name itself is derived from amaranth, which comes from the Greek amarantos (unfading). “In legend, the amaranth flower is an imaginary flower that never fades and never dies.” I think that meaning is quite beautiful.
I like [name_f]Amaranta[/name_f]. There’s also [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] and [name_f]Amarantha[/name_f].
One Hundred Years of Solitude? [name_u]Love[/name_u], love, love.
For me, Remedios doesn’t work but [name_u]Remy[/name_u] could be a nice, subtle honor name. I think [name_f]Amaranta[/name_f] is beautiful. If you needed a nickname, she could easily be [name_f]Ama[/name_f], [name_f]Mara[/name_f], [name_f]Amara[/name_f], [name_f]Mia[/name_f], etc. Lots of options.
Remedios is a little bit too much, but I still think it could work as a middle. I love the association it has for you!
[name_f]Amaranta[/name_f] is beautiful, and I think it’s perfectly usable. [name_u]Unique[/name_u], but familiar and I love the nn options too!
