[name_m]Just[/name_m] wanting to start brainstorming. We are due w/ our third baby this winter, though we are not finding out the sex this time. We currently have two girls. Mhairi and [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]. Would love to stick w/ the Scottish theme but it’s not absolutely imperative. I find myself running out of Scottish choices I like. I will give a list of a few I am liking right now and just want to see if anyone can make any suggestions! Need some fresh ideas! I do love Scottish, Welsh, Irish, etc. But open to anything! Also love vintage/old fashioned.
From your list, I really like [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], [name_f]Elsa[/name_f], and [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] but not with Mhairi and [name_f]Fiona[/name_f].
Thanks! I’ve always had a little crush on [name_f]Nessa[/name_f], I think it is so sweet. But a little worried too ‘[name_m]Loch[/name_m] Ness Monster-ish’ But maybe not!?
Maybe [name_f]Nesta[/name_f]? It’s the welsh form of [name_f]Agnes[/name_f]… I love [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]! It’s adorable, and would be amazing with your girls. Also [name_f]Eilidh[/name_f] and [name_f]Elowen[/name_f].
I don’t think [name_f]Nessa[/name_f] is too '[name_m]Loch[/name_m] Ness Monster" at all. In fact, until you mentioned it I forgot the monster was referred to as [name_f]Nessie[/name_f].
Oh really?? Ok well that’s interesting. I would think it’d be the first thing people would think but maybe I am wrong! I do love the name. And even love nickname [name_f]Nessie[/name_f]. But I visited [name_m]Loch[/name_m] Ness a few years ago and there was all sorts of [name_f]Nessie[/name_f] toys and what not in the gift shop ahah
The first names that sprang to mind were [name_f]Isla[/name_f], [name_f]Cecily[/name_f], [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] with your daughters names. From your list, i love [name_f]Elsa[/name_f], [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] and [name_f]Winifred[/name_f], they all favourites of mine. [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] is adorable, although personally i prefer just [name_f]Nell[/name_f], i think it makes a great 1syllable middle name.
My favorite is definitely [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]. I think it’s such a gorgeous name and goes perfectly with your daughters’ names. I also think [name_f]Nessa[/name_f]/[name_f]Nessie[/name_f] are perfectly fine. Here in the States, I doubt people would think of [name_m]Loch[/name_m] Ness.
Thanks for all the replies…lots of fresh ideas! [name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Carys[/name_f] but prefer it w/ a British accent and fear that it would just be pronounced Care-iss…which I don’t like as much. [name_f]Siobhan[/name_f] is a nice choice, quite common where I live but not overused. I love [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] as well but have a good friend w/ a daughter named this.
[name_f]Elowen[/name_f] is beautiful and works wonders with your set. [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is adorable, but feels a little incomplete next to your longer and more complex names. It’s a stretch, but maybe [name_f]Sinead[/name_f] nn [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]? I definitely think that you should choose another name from the Celtic/Welsh/Gaelic/Scottish region, because I just can’t see Mhairi playing with her little sister [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. Though since you seem to be lingering on tamer choices for your third child, I’d suggest a more familiar name from that area:
[name_f]Elspeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Isobel[/name_f]/[name_f]Ishbel[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilias[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Nessa[/name_f] [name_f]Brighid[/name_f]/[name_f]Brigid[/name_f]
[name_f]Ruthven[/name_f] nn [name_f]Ruth[/name_f], [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]/[name_f]Margery[/name_f] nn [name_f]Margie[/name_f]
[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]
If you want to use a classic name, some of these would look lovely paired with one in the middle slot, e.g., [name_f]Bethan[/name_f] [name_f]Elsa[/name_f], [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Siobhan[/name_f] [name_f]Nellie[/name_f].
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is a really cute name! Going along with the vintage theme though, what about
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]
Also [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] is quite cute, or maybe find a cool name from local mythology, like my name which is [name_f]Morrigan[/name_f], and my parents were Irish. Maybe something a little less weird than mine though
I think [name_f]Morrigan[/name_f] is a really pretty name! I always liked [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] but seems a bit plain but [name_f]Morrigan[/name_f] is really different! Too close to my other daughter Mhairi though. I have always liked [name_f]Clara[/name_f]. I am leaning toward [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] now as well. Really loving [name_f]Tessa[/name_f]. Not sure if it’s exactly scottish but it seems like it might fit w/ Mhairi and [name_f]Fiona[/name_f].
