While I do plan on stopping after one, I do want to have a name that I love as much as [name_m]Forrest[/name] [name_u]Oleander[/name], who’s name came to me with the help of this forum. You’ll see in past posts that I have several boy names I love, but none that felt as RIGHT as this.
Currently, I like the names [name_u]Fern[/name], [name_f]Opal[/name], and [name_f]Clementine[/name]. I’ve thought of combinations [name_u]Fern[/name] [name_f]Elodie[/name], [name_f]Opal[/name] [name_f]Marjorie[/name], and [name_f]Clementine[/name] [name_u]Jo[/name] but none of these combinations gave me the same moment of oh my god that’s the one, as [name_m]Forrest[/name] [name_u]Oleander[/name] did. This may be because of my choice in middle?
I like unshakable names with a warm and vintage (or slightly dated, even) feel. I do like some more unusual names like [name_u]Evergreen[/name], especially paired more with classic names ([name_f]Frances[/name] [name_u]Bluebird[/name] occurred to me as well — the name [name_f]Frances[/name] means a lot to me). But perhaps less “common” vintage choices.
I always think of [name_f]Anne[/name] of [name_u]Green[/name] Gables when it comes to girls names, as I adore that series. If that helps give an idea of the vibe I like. Because of this, [name_f]Avonlea[/name] and [name_u]Blythe[/name] come to mind!
What absolutely beautiful names you’ve listed. [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] is so divine— that would be incredible with [name_m]Forrest[/name_m] [name_u]Oleander[/name_u], too!
Ideas for firsts and middles (though, I’m not the best with suggestions) that I’ve got based on your post are…
[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f]
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] (Anne reference and cool gem!)
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Marilla[/name_f]
[name_f]Minnie[/name_f]
[name_f]May[/name_f]
[name_f]Fawn[/name_f]
[name_u]Wylie[/name_u]
[name_u]Hazel[/name_u]
[name_f]Bluebell[/name_f]
[name_f]Daffodil[/name_f]
[name_f]Peony[/name_f]
[name_f]Manon[/name_f]
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f] (I love that this name sounds like “imagine!”)
[name_u]Lark[/name_u]
[name_u]Larkspur[/name_u]
[name_u]June[/name_u]
Bumblebee (maybe too out there, but still so sweet!)
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Alouette[/name_f]
[name_u]Hyacinth[/name_u]
[name_f]Emerald[/name_f]
[name_u]Greer[/name_u]
[name_u]Fern[/name_u] was the first thought before reading your post! I would actually suggest [name_u]Fern[/name_u] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], it’s lovely and unexpected~
Thank you!! I do love [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] as a middle and [name_f]Marilla[/name_f] is a longtime favorite. And [name_f]Bluebell[/name_f] is such a stunning middle!
Thank you!! I do love [name_f]Muriel[/name], especially considering the literary connections she has to [name_f]Anne[/name] of Green Gables, but I do worry the ‘sitcom Grandma’ vibe has becoming too much to use it. Pronouncing myur-e-ELLE and not myur-e-uhl may lessen that connection, though I honestly like both. Maybe that’s one instance that warrants an alternate spelling. [name_f]Muriell[/name]?
[name_f]Myrtle[/name] is very sweet, though, and has some ornithological connections which I love. [name_f]Marina[/name], Demaris and [name_f]Olive[/name] (<3) are very cute!! I love [name_f]Olive[/name] as a first name and alternative to [name_f]Olivia[/name].
If you want the [name_u]Anne[/name_u] of [name_u]Green[/name_u] Gables theme I recommend [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f]. I love this combo as both names mean happiness. I also love the [name_u]Anne[/name_u] of [name_u]Green[/name_u] Gables series and I think this is perfect. [name_f]My[/name_f] favourite boys name is [name_u]Oliver[/name_u] [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] which unintentionally has the same theme.
