I kind of feel like the “surnames as first names” need a little love. They seem to be getting a lot of hate on here lately. Although, there are some I don’t like, there are others I am guilty of loving!
Ones that I wouldn’t need a lot of convincing to use: [name]Carter[/name], [name]Bennett[/name], [name]Beckett[/name], [name]Tennyson[/name], [name]Archer[/name], [name]Weston[/name], and maybe [name]Selby[/name]
Two of my favorite names right now are [name]Montgomery[/name] and [name]Edison[/name]. If I was pregnant and having a boy I would name him either one of those in a heartbeat. They are such handsome names that are not common but not too out there with great nick names. They are winners in my book
Great thread [name]Kitty[/name]! I feel they’re being treated unfairly as well.
My all time favourite is [name]Mortimer[/name]; it’s so dashing! Maybe I’m influenced by Our Mutual [name]Friend[/name], but I’m swooning over this one!
I love [name]Mortimer[/name], although I would never use it. I also love [name]Montgomery[/name], nn [name]Monty[/name]!
I like [name]Douglas[/name], Elvery, [name]Everley[/name], [name]Hadley[/name], Loxley, [name]Marlowe[/name], [name]Sidney[/name] and [name]Westley[/name]!
Thanks for a great thread! I live in South USA, and we don’t need anyone to give our surnames some love! It isn’t a trend but a way of life in existence since the beginning of the South
[name]Both[/name] my children have old English surnames for first names- Grantson (boy) and Wellsley (girl)…
My favorites of all-time are [name]Cagney[/name], [name]Calder[/name], [name]Windsor[/name], Wetherly, and [name]Fleming[/name]. Family names I’d use are [name]Jessup[/name] and Gainer.
Others I like include- Langford, Kellar, [name]Sutton[/name], Gatlin, [name]Palmer[/name], [name]Granger[/name], [name]Hemingway[/name], [name]Remington[/name],
I like hearing the use of- [name]Spencer[/name], [name]Carter[/name], [name]Griffin[/name], [name]Parker[/name], [name]Turner[/name], [name]Porter[/name], [name]Sullivan[/name], [name]Worth[/name], [name]Easton[/name], [name]Emerson[/name], [name]Ellison[/name], [name]Landry[/name]
I love surnames as first names! My family has tended to have rather boring names ([name]John[/name], [name]Robert[/name], etc), so I love the idea of giving my future children surnames as first names to connect them to our family members who have passed away.
I like some! [name]Griffin[/name], [name]Bennett[/name], [name]Beckett[/name], [name]Everly[/name], [name]Pierce[/name], [name]Reid[/name], [name]Cole[/name], [name]Grant[/name], [name]Spencer[/name], [name]Hudson[/name], [name]Blake[/name], [name]Nolan[/name] just to name a few. Not all of them are names I would use, but I do like them!
Considering I named my daughter [name]Emerson[/name] and my son McIntire (due in 5 weeks)- I am happy to see this thread. I don’t see a problem using surnames as first names at all!
