I recently watched the series The Gilded Age on HBO [name_m]Max[/name_m] (and loved it!). The daughter’s name of one of the lead characters is [name_f]Gladys[/name_f]. [name_f][/name_f] I had previously never considered this name, as I typically only hear it used for older adults…BUT, as I kept thinking about this name, I’m thinking it may sound fresh again.

What do you think? [name_f][/name_f] Is [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] cute for a baby girl?
[name_f]Gladys[/name_f] is such an underrated beauty imo! [name_f]My[/name_f] S/O and I named our first cat we adopted [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] and have regretted it as it has kept it off our actual baby name list[name_f][/name_f] so it definitely holds a special place for me, and I would adore hearing/meeting a little person with the name!
[name_f][/name_f]
I think [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] [name_f]Gayle[/name_f] nn [name_f]Gigi[/name_f] would be perfect too, and I really love the sounds of [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. I would also suggest [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] [name_f]Helen[/name_f], [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] [name_f]Annabeth[/name_f] / [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] [name_f]Rosanna[/name_f], and [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Gladys[/name_f]! She’s super ready for a comeback, I’d say! I’m really loving [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] & [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] [name_f]Faith[/name_f], but I’ll also suggest [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] [name_f]Ramona[/name_f], [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], & [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] [name_f]Emilia[/name_f].
I’ve been waiting for people to take notice of [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- I think it’s a stunning name! I quite like [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] [name_f]Faith[/name_f].
[name_f]Gladys[/name_f] is such an unexpected choice, but I think it could be cute on a baby! I would just be ready for some surprised looks, haha. [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f] would be my pick from your list.
I typically don’t consider dated vs fresh when falling in love with names, it’s not something that would stop me from using a name I love personally. [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] sounds kinda dated but at the same time, I could totally see a cute little [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] changing everyone’s minds!
It feels like a sister name to [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] to me, and I’ve heard of two or three little Mabels in the last five years or so [name_f][/name_f]- so maybe [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] is ready to be used again too. It veers a little towards [name_f]Mildred[/name_f] and [name_f]Gertrude[/name_f] territory to me though, as in maybe just a tad too clunky to use as a first name, but I do see the appeal at the same time. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] has similar sounds and I like [name_f]Alice[/name_f] a lot.
Yes, definitely due a comeback! I like [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f], [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] [name_f]Faith[/name_f] and [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] is a name that would fit with a lot of names.
It feels a little dated, but I think it could be quite charming on a little girl today! [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Gladys[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is really sweet!
[name_f]Gladys[/name_f] has possibility [name_f][/name_f]- the ‘ys’ ending like [name_f]Lois[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Carys[/name_f], [name_m]Ellis[/name_m], Paris… the ‘glad’ cheerful first syllable… the clunky, not-at all dainty feel of it…
[name_f][/name_f]
And having met young people called Ja.nice, Gl0ria, and Ver.a recently, maybe it could make a come back
[name_f][/name_f][name_f][/name_f]
Me too [name_f][/name_f]- surprised by it would be great to meet one
I don’t think it’s ready for a comeback, but maybe someday? People have given other examples of names with a similar vibe (Mabel, [name_f]Vera[/name_f], etc.) but I think [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] has a much clunkier sound. I can’t say that I see it moving from “grandma” to “grandma but also fashionable on a baby” anytime in the next 10 years.
