I came across the name of the [name_m]Roman[/name_m] deity;
the [name_f]Goddess[/name_f] of Salt water: Salacia (sah-lay-see-a or Sah-lay-shuh)
She was the personification of the calm and sunlit ocean, considered beautiful, and married [name_u]Neptune[/name_u]. The ‘[name_u]Sal[/name_u]’ part is where the word salt is derived. I’m rather smitten with the name, it does seem very refreshing, even beautiful and dainty, but does the salt aspect of the name ruin the name in a negative way.
Also, What do you think of Salacia [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] as a contending name option?
This is a lovely name! Good find! I prefer the first pronunciation, sah-lay-see-a. I never woul have pulled the salt connection, but it does look distinctly [name_m]Roman[/name_m]/Italian. I’m not a fan if Salacia [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] though, it flows, but it feels off, not sure why. But I do like the name for sure.
I love it Salt I don’t think has a particularly negative connotation. Salt is very useful and natural. It has a lot of cleansing properties and is thus tied to concepts of purity. Plus it’s good on chips. Can’t go wrong there
I guess she might get [name_f]Sally[/name_f] as a nickname.
I’m not keen on [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], but it seems popular here.
I only included part of the possible middle name. Full name could be Salacia Charlotte Elsa Mazarine. But it has room change, shorten it, modify it, whatever. But was just seeing what everyone’s vibe was of the flow Salacia has into [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. maybe, knowing all the other names may help the flow…don’t know :-S … [name_f]Sally[/name_f] is my husband’s favorite short name, besides [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]. He likes it simple.
Salacious did immediately come to mind for me too, especially with the Sah-lay-shuh prn, so I would go with the other. It’s prettier anyway, [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. But yeah, that is interfering with my ability to enjoy the name more.
The salt aspect doesn’t ruin it for me at all though. Salt is GREAT, and has such an interesting history. It’s pretty amazing stuff. I like the idea of the nickname [name_u]Sal[/name_u]. You could also go with [name_f]Lacey[/name_f] or [name_m]Ace[/name_m].
Salacia [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] I agree with others has the right flow but doesn’t fit. I think maybe because [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is also quite strong and so completely different that it clashes rather than compliments.
Wow, long names! I think that’s great. I’m really bad at working out what flows and what doesn’t, honestly. I find [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] or [name_f]Blanche[/name_f] have a better flow, but I’m bad at this
I think Salacia has potential but with [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] it sounds like a speech impediment (or like [name_u]Sean[/name_u] [name_u]Connery[/name_u] is saying it) Schalaschiascharlotte.
Love Elsa & Marzanna but three middle names is too much IMO.
Not keen - people will forever be mispronouncing it and asking her how to spell it.
You may like it now but will you like it forever?
I’d choose something different personally.
Salacia and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] are too similar if you’re going with the “shuh” sound. But if you’re going for the other pronunciation, I’d say go for it. [name_f]Lacy[/name_f]'s a cute nickname for it.
I like the name and story behind it but “salacious” kills it for me. I agree with the previous poster that mentioned sean connery pronounciation when combined with [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. However, I think three middle names is fine and Mazzarine is a great name.
Thanks, and charlotte is always subject to change. [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] [name_f]Mazarine[/name_f] is our favorite and [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] would be honoring an [name_f]Elsie[/name_f].
