What are your thoughts on these names? Are they usable?
I’ve been thinking about these names on and off. I do like them, but worry because I’m not religious and God is right there in the names. I only like them as middles.

I really don’t like either, sorry! [name_m]Both[/name_m] are usable, I’m sure, but they so not personally appeal to me in any way. I apologise for the bluntness of this reply!
You don’t have to apologize! I made this thread to get honest opinions about them. Thank you for your comment.
I think [name_m]Godfrey[/name_m] is awesome, but it would be almost impossible to pull off. He’d have to be the perfect mix of intellectual, charismatic, and eccentric aristocrat.
That’s another reason I want to keep it in the middle. Also it doesn’t go with [name_u]James[/name_u] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] as brothers. I think it fits well with [name_m]Alaric[/name_m] though.
I think I like Godric so much because I watched [name_u]True[/name_u] Blood. So when I hear the name all I picture is the character in the show. But I can see where others may be coming from. Would be a cool middle name though! I don’t like [name_m]Godfrey[/name_m] at all.
I personally don’t care for them. Having God in a child’s name makes me feel a little uncomfortable. But that’s just my opinion.
I’m sure that someone, somewhere could pull it off, but it would take a very special person!
Godric is nice, [name_m]Godfrey[/name_m] is absolutely charming! southern.maple said it perfectly- I definitely picture an “intellectual, charismatic, and eccentric aristocrat.” As a middle it’s okay to be a bit more out there anyway. I didn’t think of God/religion even though I grew up in a very [name_m]Christian[/name_m] family.
That’s actually where I heard it. I don’t watch the show, but I saw the name on a [name_u]True[/name_u] Blood wiki page and really liked it.
I would love more opinions on Godric and [name_m]Godfrey[/name_m]. Any suggestions on names similar in style would also be helpful.
I really Godric as it seems strong and a thoughtful name for a little boy. I’m the same as you though, I would only use it as a middle!
I’m not a big fan of [name_m]Godfrey[/name_m] to be honest, it doesn’t sound very nice when I say it :/. I prefer [name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m].
I am not a fan of [name_m]Godfrey[/name_m] but I really like Godric. I would totally use Godric as a middle name. Also aside from true blood there is the Godric Gryffindor connection.
I was going to suggest [name_m]Alaric[/name_m] but I see thats in your signature already
[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_m]Osric[/name_m]? Found that one on today’s nameberry blog
We were going to go with [name_m]Godfrey[/name_m] for a boy! I love it but having a great uncle with the name may have normalized it for me. I think it is useable.
I actually really like the connection to [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m]. I enjoyed the series and the names in it.
I’m not a fan of [name_m]Osric[/name_m]. I do find the nickname [name_m]Ossie[/name_m]/[name_m]Ozzy[/name_m]/[name_m]Ozzie[/name_m] cute though.
