Going crazy trying to get a list we both love, please help!

[name]Hi[/name] all,
It’s a boy, and we are having trouble finding a name we love! I’ve been posting here to try and get some feedback and point us in the right direction with boy’s names. We have a daughter named [name]Grace[/name] [name]Catherine[/name], but I do not like traditional boy’s names. [name]Grace[/name] was chosen for our girl because it was my beloved Grandma’s name. I was thinking of either going with vintage late 1800’s, early 1900’s names or with simple, one-syllable names to go with [name]Grace[/name]. Our last name is pronounced like “relic”. The only names that have stayed on the list so far are:

[name]August[/name] nn Auggie - we are Breaking Bad fans and ever since cannot use nn [name]Gus[/name]!
[name]Callum[/name] nn [name]Cal[/name] - my DH purposefully says Gollum when I suggest this, argh, but I will not let it deter me!
[name]Penn[/name] - DH is not totally sold because of [name]Penn[/name] and Teller and the [name]Penn[/name] state scandal, but I really like its uniqueness and how it goes with [name]Grace[/name].

DH likes [name]Isaac[/name] but I don’t…it’s too common for me…if that gives you an idea of what kind of names he likes.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Maybe you like some of these?

[name]Charles[/name]: This is my favorite to go with [name]Grace[/name]. They’re both very distinguished, imo.

[name]Frederick[/name]: I like that it isn’t particularly popular, and it does have that old world, European feel. Possibly because it has been the chosen name a few monarchs.

Felix: I like Felix, honestly. It’s a little offbeat, a little antique, and it sounds relatively okay with Grace.

[name]Henry[/name]: Definitely making a comeback. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. Some people like popular names. The 1930’s dust bowl comes to mind for me. And also my pawpaw, as this was his name.

[name]Jasper[/name]: Also makes me think of the dust bowl era in the south west. I really love this name. I don’t think it particularly goes with [name]Grace[/name] though.

Judah: Another nameberry favorite. It’s vintage, which is what I think everyone likes so much about it. I like the Jude variation, myself.

[name]Leopold[/name]: Comes with the cute nn “[name]Leo[/name]” which everybody seems to love, but is more playful than [name]Grace[/name] in sound. [name]Leopold[/name] is as distinguished, though. I’m not sure if it’s a deal breaker with you if a name doesn’t flow well with your daughter’s.

[name]Robert[/name]: You may like this one? It’s along the same lines as [name]Callum[/name] imo.

[name]Rupert[/name]: [name]Rupert[/name] & [name]Grace[/name] sound cute together. When I say them out loud, it makes me think of a cute cartoon show or something for some, odd reason.

[name]Victor[/name]: I like the sort of hard sound that’s going on with this one. I also like the nn “[name]Vic[/name]” It’s just something different, since you’re unsure of which direction to take.

[name]William[/name]: Another name that’s very classic and goes well with [name]Grace[/name], although you said you don’t like the traditional. [name]How[/name] about [name]Willem[/name] as a substitute for this one?

They’re from the nameberry [name]Royal[/name] Names For Boys and Antique Names Ready for Restoration lists. I think some of them are classic, but not really heard often anymore, and some are making a comeback in popularity (if only with berries. hehe) I hope my commentary gives you a little more of an idea of what you like and don’t like. If you want something completely different, or similar to these. I think it helps when you’re getting input instead of just looking at a list someone gives you. Sometimes, your perspective may change. I’d definitely suggest going through nameberry’s lists anyway. You might find something that sticks out to you.

[name]Felix[/name] is one of my all time favorite names. As states by pp it’s a little spunky, a little antique and still very fresh. I think it goes nicely with [name]Grace[/name].

[name]Hugo[/name] is maybe a little on the uptrend but it has the same vintage and distinguished feel that [name]Grace[/name] has.

[name]Theodore[/name]/nn [name]Theo[/name] or [name]Teddy[/name] [name]Just[/name] because [name]Grace[/name] has a shorter first name and longer middle doesn’t mean your son’s name has to follow suit. [name]Theodore[/name] and [name]Grace[/name] are very compatible and with great nn’s [name]Theo[/name] and [name]Teddy[/name] can be well tailored to your son.

[name]Edwin[/name] I love this alternative to [name]Edward[/name] and it would be a nice fit with [name]Grace[/name].

You could also consider a virtue name as a mn for your son: I particularly like [name]Prosper[/name], Merit, and [name]Valor[/name] for a boy.
[name]Theodore[/name] [name]Valor[/name]
[name]Felix[/name] [name]Theodore[/name]
[name]Edwin[/name] Merit
[name]Hugo[/name] [name]Prosper[/name] would be my combo picks.

What about [name]Seth[/name]? its a nice one syllable name that goes well with [name]Grace[/name] is is barely ever heard
