Going further down the list

Ok, obviously you don’t have to answer all of them. So I’m going through new combos and names and I would love you to answer these questions and give your opinions:

Jorah Salome

Should I use Jora instead? Does it flow? Do you like these names? Is Salome too much?

Ridley Tempest

Is Ridley too masculine? Tempest too much? Does it flow? Do you like these names?

Dalia Storm

Is Dahlia better? NN options? Is Storm usable? Too boho? Does it flow? Do you like the names?

Gaia Evadne

Too mythological? Does it flow? Do you like the names?

Ianthe Poem

Does it flow? Do you like the names? Is Poet better? How do you pronounce it?

Other names I’d love your opinions on:
Hollis Junia
Elowen Hero
Lumi Avalon
Tatum Lyric
Saela Phoenix
Ximena Willow
Zola Moon
Wynter/ Winter Ophelia
Una Celestia
Bria Sunday
Nerys Zen
Nala Sonnet
Seraphina Autumn
Valkyrie Lune

Jorah [name_f]Salome[/name_f]- [name_m]Jorah[/name_m] seems masculine to me, probably because of its similarity to [name_u]Jonah[/name_u]. [name_f]Jora[/name_f] looks more feminine. It flows well. It’s not my favorite though. I’m not a huge fan of [name_f]Jora[/name_f] and [name_f]Salome[/name_f] has always sounded like “salami” to me, unless you say it suh-LOWM.

Ridley [name_u]Tempest[/name_u]- As you know, I adore [name_u]Ridley[/name_u]! [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_u]Ridley[/name_u] pushes it feminine to me but it’s definitely a unisex surname name. [name_u]Tempest[/name_u] is absolutely amazing with [name_u]Ridley[/name_u] and compliments her sassy strength. It flows beautifully. This is definitely a combo I would use haha

Dalia [name_u]Storm[/name_u]- I prefer [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] because it looks fresher. I wouldn’t use a nn for [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] because I don’t like any but [name_f]Dolly[/name_f], Dahl, [name_u]Allie[/name_u], [name_f]Lia[/name_f], or maybe [name_f]Della[/name_f] for a stretch. [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] is pretty for other people but it’s not for me. I love [name_u]Storm[/name_u] as a middle name. I don’t believe there’s such a thing as too boho. It flows well.

Gaia [name_f]Evadne[/name_f]- Again, I don’t know if there’s such a thing as “too mythological” unless you were using like [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] [name_f]Athena[/name_f] [name_f]Hera[/name_f] [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f] or something. I love both names but the end of [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] flows into the beginning of [name_f]Evadne[/name_f]. Personally, I’d use a middle that starts with a consonant with [name_f]Gaia[/name_f]. Maybe [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] [name_f]Calanthe[/name_f]?

Ianthe [name_f]Poem[/name_f]- It definitely flows! I love both names but I think I slightly prefer [name_u]Poet[/name_u] here. The N in [name_f]Ianthe[/name_f] and the M in [name_f]Poem[/name_f] is a bit similar and [name_u]Poet[/name_u] pushes it right. I say it eye-ANN-thee.

Out of the other ones, I love…
[name_f]Elowen[/name_f] [name_u]Hero[/name_u]
[name_f]Lumi[/name_f] [name_f]Avalon[/name_f]
Saela [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]
[name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f]
[name_f]Valkyrie[/name_f] [name_f]Lune[/name_f]

I think we have very similar tastes!!

@SparkleNinja18 Ha! I think we do have similar tastes! I pronounce [name_f]Ianthe[/name_f] the same as well, I actually love [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] [name_f]Calanthe[/name_f], and I think I may change it to [name_f]Ianthe[/name_f] [name_u]Poet[/name_u]! Anyway, thank you x

Jora [name_f]Salome[/name_f] looks more feminine. I really enjoy the sounds

Ridley [name_u]Tempest[/name_u] is very bold and has a star quality

Dahlia [name_u]Storm[/name_u] has flair. [name_f]Dolly[/name_f] could be a cute nickname

Gaia [name_f]Evadne[/name_f] is mystical and elegant

Ianthe [name_f]Poem[/name_f] is lovely and interesting. I’d pn it eye-an-thee [name_u]Po[/name_u]-im

Hollis [name_f]Junia[/name_f] - I like [name_u]Hollis[/name_u] but because it’s unisex, it sounds too much like [name_u]Hollis[/name_u] [name_m]Jr[/name_m] to me. [name_u]Hollis[/name_u] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]?

Elowen [name_u]Hero[/name_u] -beautiful, intriguing and lovely

Lumi [name_f]Avalon[/name_f] - soft and sharp at the same time

Tatum [name_u]Lyric[/name_u] -modern and distinctive

Saela [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] -I prefer the [name_f]Selah[/name_f] spelling but this is spunky and cool

Ximena [name_u]Willow[/name_u] -[name_f]Ximena[/name_f] feels a bit awkward to me

Zola [name_f]Moon[/name_f] -beautiful and mystical

Wynter/ [name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] -[name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] is beautiful

Una [name_f]Celestia[/name_f] -this is gorgeous and ethereal

Bria [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] - light and sweet

Nerys [name_u]Zen[/name_u] - I love [name_f]Nerys[/name_f] but [name_u]Zen[/name_u] just doesn’t work in this combo for me. [name_f]Nerys[/name_f] [name_u]Lux[/name_u], [name_f]Nerys[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f], [name_f]Nerys[/name_f] [name_f]Karma[/name_f], [name_f]Nerys[/name_f] [name_u]Oak[/name_u]?

Nala [name_f]Sonnet[/name_f] -beautiful and simple

Seraphina [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] -earthy and lovely

Valkyrie [name_f]Lune[/name_f] - I find [name_f]Lune[/name_f] too descriptive as in calling someone a loon. [name_f]Valkyrie[/name_f] [name_f]Luna[/name_f] maybe?

I’ll just list the ones I’d love to have as a first name.

Ianthe
[name_f]Avalon[/name_f]
[name_f]Sunday[/name_f]
[name_f]Evadne[/name_f]

Many of the rest seem like good middles to me.

Jorah [name_f]Salome[/name_f] — usually I’m all for -ah endings (I prefer [name_f]Alannah[/name_f] to [name_f]Alana[/name_f], [name_f]Norah[/name_f] to [name_f]Nora[/name_f], etc.) but here, I think [name_f]Jora[/name_f] looks better. [name_m]Jorah[/name_m] looks masculine to me— not at all a bad thing, but paired with a name like [name_f]Salome[/name_f] I prefer [name_f]Jora[/name_f].

Ridley [name_u]Tempest[/name_u]— [name_u]Tempest[/name_u] is too much for me, sorry. I have known a [name_u]Tempest[/name_u] (it was a nn though) and have some negative associations there, so do take what I’m saying with a grain of salt, but it doesn’t work too well for me. [name_u]Ridley[/name_u] is lovely, though I prefer on a boy I think it’s fairly unisex. I do admit I think of the Alien movies immediately — [name_u]Ridley[/name_u] [name_u]Scott[/name_u] and female main [name_u]Ripley[/name_u]. Otherwise, great alternative to [name_u]Riley[/name_u] which at least in my area is, while a nice name, very overused at this point.

Dalia [name_u]Storm[/name_u]— I love the way this flows and I don’t think [name_u]Storm[/name_u] is too much the way I think [name_u]Tempest[/name_u] is. Not sure why since they have the same/similar meaning. I much prefer the [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] spelling, it’s on my current UC (I have a nature them up) but [name_f]Dalia[/name_f] is totally usable and reminds me of [name_f]Talia[/name_f] or [name_f]Delia[/name_f], both of which I’m also quite fond of.

Gaia [name_f]Evadne[/name_f]— it’s very mythological, yes. It flows ok, but I’ve never been a huge fan of [name_f]Evadne[/name_f] and [name_f]Gaia[/name_f]’s nms personally. I prefer [name_f]Maya[/name_f] [name_f]Evadne[/name_f] as a combo, if you’re looking for suggestions.

Ianthe [name_f]Poem[/name_f]— I prefer the name [name_u]Poet[/name_u] to [name_f]Poem[/name_f], generally, but here I actually think [name_f]Poem[/name_f] flows better. [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] combo. Pron: eye-AN-thee poem.

Quick opinions on the other names:

  • Hollis [name_f]Junia[/name_f] — [name_u]Hollis[/name_u] is nms but combo works
  • Elowen [name_u]Hero[/name_u] — A very grand name, flows well
  • Lumi [name_f]Avalon[/name_f] — [name_u]Love[/name_u] this together, but might I suggest [name_f]Avalon[/name_f] [name_f]Lumi[/name_f]?
  • Tatum [name_u]Lyric[/name_u] — yes! [name_u]Love[/name_u] seeing [name_u]Lyric[/name_u].
  • Saela [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] — I knew a Saila and I think this is a lovely name! [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] compliments this well.
  • Ximena [name_u]Willow[/name_u] — I love these separately, but I don’t know if I love them together.
  • Zola [name_f]Moon[/name_f] — I love [name_f]Moon[/name_f] as a middle! I like the spelling Zohla too but it may complicate things, and [name_u]Zola[/name_u] is also nice.
  • Wynter/ [name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] — I think this is a very nice combo, but would definitely go with the [name_u]Winter[/name_u] spelling here.
  • Una [name_f]Celestia[/name_f] — I love [name_f]Una[/name_f]! This flows well.
  • Bria [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] — nms but I like the flow
  • Nerys [name_u]Zen[/name_u] — a little too much consonant for me, I think, this one’s not for me.
  • Nala [name_f]Sonnet[/name_f] — I adore [name_f]Sonnet[/name_f] but unfortunately [name_f]Nala[/name_f] is all The [name_m]Lion[/name_m] [name_m]King[/name_m] to me.
  • Seraphina [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] — love this combo!!
  • Valkyrie [name_f]Lune[/name_f] — [name_f]Valkyrie[/name_f] is a very powerful sounding name! Definitely a weighty name but that’s not a bad thing. Sounds good with [name_f]Lune[/name_f] which I’m assuming is pronounced “loon?”

Commenting on a few that I had distinct thoughts about

I love [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] [name_f]Evadne[/name_f] - both names are individually gorgeous and they’re very nice together.

[name_f]Dalia[/name_f] [name_u]Storm[/name_u] - I do prefer [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] but there’s nothing wrong with [name_f]Dalia[/name_f]. [name_u]Storm[/name_u] is different/boho/whatever you want to call it, but Da(h)lia is familiar enough that I think it’s okay.

[name_u]Hollis[/name_u] [name_f]Junia[/name_f]- spunky, energetic, a girl who takes charge

[name_f]Elowen[/name_f] [name_u]Hero[/name_u] - powerful and feminine

[name_f]Lumi[/name_f] [name_f]Avalon[/name_f] - kind of boho, reminds me of summertime at the beach.

[name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] - different enough that she’ll never meet another while still being familiar and sweet

[name_f]Una[/name_f] [name_f]Celestia[/name_f] - I think I would prefer [name_f]Celeste[/name_f], in part because of the repeating -a and in part to bring the combo down to earth a bit but it’s very nice either way.
