Going over names

I am pregnant with my third child. This will be my husband’s fifth. We have one boy, [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m], and three girls, [name_f]Alana[/name_f], [name_f]Cadence[/name_f] and [name_f]Clarissa[/name_f]. Since my husband seems to produce girls, I am pretty sure this child will be another girl. My stepson agrees with me. LOL. By the off chance we do have a boy, I am pretty set and firm on [name_u]Noah[/name_u]. However, I do have a boy name reserve list: the names with stars by them are ones we mutually agree on

[name_u]Bentley[/name_u]* (currently middle name for [name_u]Noah[/name_u])
[name_m]Liam[/name_m]*
[name_m]Christian[/name_m]*
[name_m]Deacon[/name_m]
[name_m]Xander[/name_m]

Girl names have always been tricky for us. We decided on [name_f]Cadence[/name_f] fairly easily but her name was debated for a while. [name_f]Clarissa[/name_f] went through a plethora of names. My husband really, really wanted the name [name_f]Claire[/name_f], so we compromised on [name_f]Clarissa[/name_f]. We had [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] planned for another girl. However, my stepdaughter said she would wanted a sibling with an A name because she felt left out. As hard as it is to cross off [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], we don’t want to make my stepdaughter feel alienated. We don’t plan on limiting ourselves to A names (though we do have a few) but we won’t use another C name. Here is the list: *Same as boy names

[name_f]Adalyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Aria[/name_f]
[name_u]Aubrey[/name_u]*
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Ava[/name_f]
[name_u]Tatum[/name_u]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]*
[name_f]Lily[/name_f]*
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]*
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_u]Everly[/name_u]
[name_f]Summer[/name_f]*
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]*

[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] is a top contender for a name but I tend to like girl names not in the top 50 on the social security list. I also have a cousin named [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]. I don’t talk with her or her mom but I feel as though I would be “stealing the name”. My second choice would be [name_f]Adalyn[/name_f] but my husband does not like it. I plan on keeping that spelling. [name_f]Adalyn[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Adalyn[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Adalyn[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] and [name_f]Adalyn[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] are my combos.

Any advice/suggestions/opinions?

I love [name_f]Clarissa[/name_f]! Of your list, I vote for [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] or [name_u]Eden[/name_u]. As someone with a name that has multiple spellings, I would stay away from [name_f]Adalyn[/name_f] - between all the girls named [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], [name_f]Adalynn[/name_f], [name_f]Addilyn[/name_f] etc., she will never get it spelled correctly. In fact, someone compiled this list that shows that when you aggregate all the alternate spellings, [name_f]Adalyn[/name_f] is the #7 name in the country! So definitely avoid it if you’re hoping to stay out of the top-50. ([name_f]Ava[/name_f], by the way, is #5!) Plus with the [name_u]Addison[/name_u]'s and [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f]'s, she’ll disappear into the crowd. Your other children have nice names that aren’t likely to be misspelled, so I’d aim for that for this child, too.

Other ‘A’ ideas I think would all be lovely:
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_f]Amy[/name_f]
[name_u]Arden[/name_u]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Anna[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Annaliese[/name_f]
[name_f]Annika[/name_f]
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Adrienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Allegra[/name_f]

Side note: men actually can be genetically more prone to father daughters or sons! So you and your stepson might not be far off, especially if he and his father and his father’s father etc. have more sisters than brothers.

From your list, I like [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] - especially when combined with [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] sounds pretty.

I’m loath to suggest any more, especially as you have such lovely names on your list but what about [name_f]Abrielle[/name_f] or Abriella?
