My DH, and I used to joke about naming our son [name]Goku[/name]…
We think it would be a great name…our friends/families not so much. What do you guys think?

I am really shocked. I have just read wikipedia on [name]Goku[/name] and I am at a loss at to why you would consider this name. You had brilliant ideas suggested to you re the biblical names and I thought that you would really love some of the combos. I feel that you were completely on the right track initially and I would encourage you to find something from the first thread you started.

From biblical to [name]Goku[/name] is quite the jump! I’d be interested to know the thought process behind that one.
The name is almost exclusively and forever tied to the anime. While the anime/manga is no longer in serialization, it is still very popular in the U.S. (not sure where you live…) People know [name]Goku[/name] and they associate it with the character. It’s kind of like naming your kid [name]Bruce[/name] [name]Wayne[/name]. [name]Do[/name] you like [name]Goku[/name] because of the character or is it the meaning/sound you like?
I wouldn’t do it. When some people ask about names tied to characters, some berries like to argue that by the time your kid is school aged the reference will lose it’s relevance, but I just don’t think that’s the case here.
Also, if it’s a name for a triplet, I can’t imagine what the other two babies would be called. It’s not like you can pair [name]Goku[/name] with just anything and expect it to make sense.
While yes, my dear husband and I do always joke about naming our son [name]Goku[/name], and think it is a cool name. We would not do it. I think? My dear husbands best friend…thinks it is a great idea…and decided to post on our behalf to try and convince us. But right now We are sticking to our biblical names…
Maybe [name]Goku[/name] can be a middle name? or a nickname? lol

First you want to know about [name]Goku[/name]. Then it turns out someone else posted as you. Then you come back to the thread saying you wouldn’t use the name. Then you’d use it as a nickname. Then “it’s name love” and you are going to use the name… On a triplet.
I always think each troll is the worst ever, but you have a pretty poor record of consistency.

Wow… your husband’s best friend no only knows about your account, but also your password. He also looked up your post history to see what you’s already discussed and incorporated in ideas you and your husband have privately joked about, and typed it up in the exact same style as you? So crazy.
i think of Dragonball Z, but i do really love the name in a real world context. i think the show has died off enough that (even thought they have recently be re-airing them) by the time your kid is in school it shouldnt be a problem. it just rolls off the tongue. i happen to have fallen in love with the name [name]Thor[/name] from a another anime called Jyu-oh-sei before the [name]Marvel[/name] movie craze. hearing in a totally different context completely changed the name from thunder god to a sweet boy having to make his way up the social ladder of a planet used to imprison and punish citizens. when i watch the show, i dont think of the mythic [name]Thor[/name] at all. but everyone else would. however Dragonball Z and anime in particular isnt nearly as popular as comics. i say go for it. [name]Rufus[/name], [name]Jethro[/name], & [name]Goku[/name] all go well together and just as names go i like [name]Goku[/name] over [name]Rufus[/name] anyway.
